Hi, was hoping for a few opinions

I'm a 32 year old male.  About two months ago I started getting odd twitching and fluttering sensations in my legs which then evolved into pins and needles / burning feeling in my feet.  (typically this was all left leg/feet, just occasionally on the right).  I decided to go visit my doctor for a checkup.  He decided it wasnt bad blood flow and after a blood test, said everything was good except somewhat low B12.  He referred me to a neurologist who checked my reflexes, had me walk around, etc... and said he wasnt completely sure what was going on but that I was probably okay.  (as part of a back story, I've had three knee surgeries over the years and my left leg has noticeable atrophy in the quads.  I just bought a recumbent bike for the house 1.5 months ago and have been riding religiously every other day).  The neurologist said all the odd leg feelings is probably related to my bike riding and keeping building up that muscle.  But to monitor the sensations to see if they get worse.

Well wouldnt you know it, right after I saw the neurologist I was at work and had this really odd sensation of getting dizzy.  And then was lightheaded coupled with nausea for rest of day.  I was also really hungry and thinking I hadnt done a proper job of changing my diet with the new workout routine, I decided I just needed to eat more.  Well this week I've laid off the bike, just rested at home after work, been eating a lot more, but I'm still getting the lightheaded feeling every day.  It does seem worse when I'm hungry or when Im tired.  But it just isnt going away.  You put all these symptoms together, pins and needles, burning sensations, odd muscle twiching, being lightheaded/dizzy, etc.... and MS is an explanation.  I guess I was just curious to see if those with MS had these same issues when they first realized they were afflicted.  If the lightheaded feeling doesnt go away next week, think I'm going back to doctor.

thank you!

Thank you for the response.  I have a good friend whose father has MS and I've helped her in the past organize MS walks and raise money.  So part of me wonders if I'm just more aware of the disease and thats causing me to focus more on my symptoms that could be MS related.  I know how scary it can be and hope we can find a cure for this.

I will say as I'm eating more, the hungrier I'm getting.  But the dizziness actually seems to be getting slightly worse with each day.  Still not losing my balance.  But it's similar to when you're sick with the flu and your head just feels wobbly.  And its just more and more pronounced with each day.

Just dont know whats going on.  And on one hand, when I visit the doc and the neurologist, its nice that they can check off some things, but on the otherhand, its alarming to not have an answer.

Hi and welcome,

If you google those sx's MS will definitely come up, but what you won't find so easily are the many other conditions that mimic the sx's of MS. To be honest there isn't anything that you have mentioned that I wouldn't think isn't explained by your prior knee issue, vit B deficiency, exercise routine and dietary needs not being met.

To me it sounds like you are possibly pushing your bodies physical capabilities too far and too fast, whilst burning too many calories of an unbalanced/incomplete diet and possibly causing a hypoglycaemic reaction. I really don't see anything MS-ish from what you've mentioned, but i do think you should speak to your doctor about what's been happening. You might consider if you would benefit from seeing a physio, nutritionist or personal trainer for some specific exercises and dietary guidance.

Cheers........JJ
