High Blood Pressure

by FrankieT, Nov 06, 2009 07:27PM
Hello, Still awaiting DX, but am going on the 17th to see an ms specialist. Finally. This will be consult only, but hopefully it will be the first (well 50th) step in some sort of path of clarity.

I am curious, over the last 6 months (before MS was even in my now daily thoughts) my blood pressure is erratic. My whole life I have been a 110/60 girl. Very nice and low and extremely consistent. Now, in a course of the day, I am 110/60-138/129, sometimes higher, never lower, but what a jump. I have been watching it by dr. request to see if there are any patterns related to the increases, and I can find none. And I have been looking really hard for a pattern.

Does anyone else have this issue and if so, have you been able to attribute it to anything?

Hi,
I am in limbo too with an MS dx but I was dx with transverse myelitis. I experience the same thing with my blood pressure. Also my heartrate is all over the place too.It seems to really like to happen when I' laying on my left side trying to go to sleep. I asked my neuro about this  and he said that  you can have damage to the autonomic nervous system too sometimes. And that will cause BP and HR abnormailities. I also get migraines with aura and it seems to happen then to which I was also told came with the territory.
Take care.....

Thank you so much for responding. I really appreciate your time to respond. When were you dx with transverse myelitis? Why did they suspect it in the first place? What are you symptoms? I went to the immediate care today (my doctor was too busy) because I was having sciatic issues (I think) and my left toes have been numb for 5 days and my lower back has been aching. He pushed on a couple of things and said my lower back joint was swollen (weird, I thought joints were bones) said to take some ibuprofen and sent me away.

Have you been able to recover from TM or do you have damage? Sorry if that is too personal. Just tell me to pipe down if I get out of line. :)
