Hives..from meds??

Hi everyone, I'm taking Gabapentin and up to 1800mg a day...I was taking 2100mg a day, but felt too tired so I lowered it to 1800mg .. I've had this rash on my neck for the past week or so.. it's spreading down my chest area and hands...parts of my face.  It looks like Hives...but I'm not sure if it is.  My GP is away for another week and can't see him... could you get hives from gabapentin...it's the only med that is a new med for me...

or could you get this type of rash from having the heat on in the house, now that the weather is getting colder ??  It doesn't look like a heat rash.. more like hives.. it's itchy at times..not always.  But it's not getting better?

what do you think?

any help would be great...

I looked at the side effects listed for gabapentin, and didn't see hives listed on the sites that I checked.

Is there anything else that could be causing this rash/hives?  New laundry soap or body wash?  Eating something new?

Sometimes when the heat is just turned on again, you have to deal with dust, mold, pet dander, or pollen, etc. that could have been in the heater, if it wasn't totally cleaned when turned back on, depending on what kind of heat you have.

Also, that indoor heat can cause and cooler weather can lead to dry skin, which can lead to itching.  A new lotion could cause a reaction.

If you can't talk to a doc before your GP is available, take a picture of your rash.  Honestly, I described a rash I'd had to my GP, and she said she wished I'd taken a picture, that its worth a thousand words, literally.

Take care,

Kathy
