Hot water, heat and cold

Hot water, heat and cold

When I get over heated like on hot days my Sx get worse like the rest of you. But for some strange reason I can't explain a hot shower usually makes me feel better. This doesn't make sense to me at all. I can think of only two reason that the hot shower is like this for me.

1) the massaging of the water counter act the tightening of the muscles so the usual tightening of a hot day does not occur.

2) The heat is not effect all of my body at one time so it is different than the heat of a hot day.

One other thing about hot water. I have noticed that some days when washing dishes with the water turned to full hot it only seems a little hoter than luck warm, but other days it seems like I am putting my hand into boiling water. I wonder which is the right feeling or is it somewhere in between?

Normally I keep my home between 65 and 68. At about 70 I start to ache all over and below 63 I shiver like a bowl of jello. Even with my home at 68 if I put on my shoes it will fell like it is a hundred in the house and I start to ache like crazy. But then I have crazy days where I just can not get warm. I'll turn up the heat in my home to 75 and climb under two conforters and still be shivering like I was in a freezer. I take my temperature on those days thinking I must be running a fever. But alas it is my normal 96.3. I'll spend hour on end like that with no relief in sight. But as soon as I take a hot shower I can then turn down the therostat in my home and I'm back to normal. I have never mentioned this to any of my doctors as I'm sure they would think I was crazy.

Anyone have any ideas or thought on this?

It struck me funny that your normal temp is 96.3. Mine normal has always been 96.8  everyone thinks im lying because it is not the usual 98.6 lol. I also keep my house in the 60s and I can relate to the putting on of shoes thing. All the best

I think i get what your saying because my temperature gage is very faulty but the manufacturer (mum) wont take responsibility, she says it was working when it was installed and therefore cant be held responsible if the wiring is now defunct. lol.

For me heat that surrounds and heats the air is worse than localised heat. I cant function very well in summer, baths, spas, hot cars, over heating due to exercise etc. I cant tollerate much in summer because heat surrounds and heats the air, creates the fatigue that then totals me.

Winter is something all together different, I can tollerate and sometimes really crave localised heat, hot shower if the air can escape and the room stays cold, in summer i get so light heated, seeing stars i only have cool showers. I do sleep with a very hot electric blanket under my legs but with most of me exposed to the cold air. My left foot tingles a lot and is now twitching like a ripple that just has to escape through my toes but i just cant sleep with out the heat easing the pain.

I'm so rugged up with layers of wooly clothing, hat and scalf and thats inside the house but i still always feel cold, hands, legs and feet are icey cold. My ribs and neck are hurting so much at the moment that i would love a couple of hot packs, cause nothing is helping but at least the heat give some temperary relief.

I really think temperatures affect me negatively, i dont think pain is a daily thing for me in the summer but in winter i cant get a minute of time with out it, though i much prefer the pain than the fatigue, at least i can still function. I'm sure i'll have the opposite view come summer lol!

Oh on the hands in hot water thing, i get that sometimes too, i've wondered if its because my hands are so cold it makes the water feel colder, though i would think its suppose to actually feel hotter. Oops i think i'm confused again lol

Cheers......JJ
