How do you all go about working?

How do you all go about working?

Hey there! Ive been quite confused on the working front! I believe and want to work but then again I really cant. Its very confusing to me. I'll feel like i can do this ill look for a job ill find one just to end up with more and more symtpoms getting worse and fatigue out the wahoo! And its so frustrating when i feel like i can do this finally just maybe my MS is gone away for awhile just for it to come back in a few days and mess me up. Then theres i'll get a job then i'll have to stand for 8 hours straight or move around alot or pick up thing repeativly and i cant do all that. Ill be lucky if i can work for a hour or two doing all that without ending up shaky winded wobbly dizzy. So How do you all go about finding jobs? ( im 23 and only experience in cash register waitressing and bartending. Also Massage Therapy but that obvoiusly out of the question) I just really dont know what to do I want and need to work. I was denied by disability and my insurnace company wants me to appeal but i still want to find a job NOW i dont and cant wait for the appeal .

Also another problem is i cant make to much money or my benefits will be taken away. I;m not sure if that goes with the insurance or just my other benefits. I dont care if im working and they take the other ones away. I need to call and find out if ill still get my insurance if i make money.   Any advice would be much appreciated! Or job ideas that wont make me worse that you guys have found?

I am in the same boat as you. I was in beauty school when all these symptoms started. I somehow managed to graduate but there is no way I can do that type of work because of my balance trouble. I actually was working for SuperCuts and had to quit after only 5 days, I was soo dizzy.

I also had my certificate for Dental Assistant, but now that is out of the question too. Here is an idea for you that might be an option...Data entry..that job usually is a sit down job and they will train you..part-time receptionist?? Let them know you can only work a few hrs a day and maybe a few days a week.

Just a few suggestions...I am unable to wrk because of my balance trouble. To even walk into an interview is difficult. I swerve, and stumble..its embarrassing.
Good luck on your search!!

Hi there,

I'm new here and not diagnosed but have many symptoms.  I manage to work part time so I can rest in between and my work place has allowed me to work fom home occaisionally so I can rest my neck while doing a teleconference or webinar.  I think the data entry job idea is good.  i work in public health so I make brochures, posters, health campaings etc. so there is a lot of flexibility.  I have a friend who works from home doing medical transcriptions - again you can work at your own pace...  I have had to cancel meetings in my job however due to being too dizzy and off balance to drive.  So far my employer has not complained about my situation as I get my stuff done but I am noticing I am much slower than I was and get fatigued by noon.  Yhere may be a time when i have to go off on disability but I take it one step at a time.  For now all they know is I have a chronic condition that causes me certain symptoms - cause that's all I really know right now.  Take it easy on yourself and dtart thinking about alternatives to the typical jobs we think are out there.  I had to leave my past career as a social worker due to my symptoms as i could not function but then I found this job a year ago and love it.  There is something out there for you, it just may take some time to find it.  take care, A

I have a desk job, so working 8 hours isn't as debilitating.  If I were on my feet all day, I wouldn't be able to do this.

When I was first diagnosed, it was really difficult, but now that I'm in remission, I'm functioning much better.

I recommend something like data entry or some other desk job that keeps you inside, in the cool, and able to take a bathroom break when needed.

Hey Guys talk about a coincidence i just got called for a job interview today...part time ( may be like 4 hours every day 5 days a week. ) wich would be great and  it is an office assistant job.. Mainly be preparing patients for the doctor and then sitting down working on the computer with insurance the rest of the time! I'm so hoping i get this one i just cant do bartending anymore so i need to be on my game tom. morning! ( and i so dont do good in morning so im just gonna wake up like 3 hours early so im actaully up!) This couldnt of came at a better time!  Thanks for you replys its so hard and frustrating sometimes and if i dont get this back on the hunt again! I would like to save up money to become a vet tech for a hospital or zoo. I know crazy right when ican barley stand long but i figure if i do something I am in total love with and have such a pssion for that it would make it worth it and the ms wont be so bad...cant let it take away my passion it already took away to much so i will fight for that one with everything i got!  WISH ME LUCK i hope i nail it ssoo nervous!

My symptoms started in July 2002, with lightheadness/dizziness that made it impossible for me to drive. This is often accompanied by vision problems (double or blurred vision) along with a litany of other complaints that come and go.

I did not drive for three months and was able to carpool with a co-worker. Now I have a 45 minute commute in an area with no mass transit. I have missed a number of days of work where I started to drive and realized that I was putting myself and others in danger. I'm a director of finance for a nonprofit and fortunately, my home computer is linked to the work server so that I can work out of the home.

Right now I'm in a particularly bad spell, with 3 months of dizziness and balance problems. I have missed two days of work in the last two weeks. I worry about losing my job and not being able to find another one in this tight job market.

I have an MRI scheduled for this coming Monday and hope that they can finally put a name to this as it has changed my life in too many negative ways.
