How does your relapse progress

How does your relapse progress

Just a question for those who are dx , when you start a relapse , what is the typical progression.??

For example , my relapses start gradually over a week or so , becoming more obvious that I am in a relapse and then after a few weeks I might get a few days where I start to feel better and think....oh I am through the worst , only to be hit even worse than before....kinda like the calm before the storm.

Then gradually improve , with the odd setback , not as bad as before but a little worse . So it is never a smooth slowly getting worse to a slowly getting better , more like little hiccups than smooth.

Does anyone elses relapse seem this way??? or is it just me??  Only a possible MS but wondering if this is the norm for MS??

Misty,

Your description is pretty similar to how my relapses present themselves. However, I think others may have a different pattern depending on what type of MS and what stage they're in and what symptoms they have.

At least there are two of us that are similar. Since MS is like a snowflake where no two cases are alike, so it is with relapses I'm sure. Hopefully others will chime in here and give there experiences.

Sounds like me as well.  I start sleeping more and more, feeling a little worse each day, until one day I can't get out of bed and go to work.  I sleep for a day, maybe two, then gradually get better.

I had the same thing. Starts slow and builds up to the worse then gradually falls back down but leaves new symptoms or old symptoms worse. Also i get the one where it just hits you in the face and your down for the count in like 5 minutes flat lol that one sucked and took a good few months to get back. And my other one was i went to bed fine and walk up totally messed up that one just stayed the same for a week then dissappeared one day.  So i had 3 different relapses 3 different ways  i wonder if that is normal now that i think abot it?!

Well Rendean, I do think I have MS as the relapses always seem to have this pattern.

If I do have MS I am sure it is RRMS as I have clear relapses and remissions and now I am not totally recovering. It has been a long 4 years for me but I think with my progress of symptoms it won't be too long before I know for sure I hope.

Jensequiter I also get very sleepy and need to nap and can't stay awake past 7pm. All 3 majour relapses have lasted months....so this 48hrs thing....I wish!!
