Yes I know what you mean... I feel so bad for everyone that will be effected by the hurricane... It's such a scary time for all involved...

I think it has something to do with the barometric pressure... I know that when my kids make plans they will call to see how I'm feeling first... I can usually tell them if it's going to rain well before the weather man can...lol... Most of us here can...

I sure hope you will be safe during the storm and I'm so sorry you have to feel the pain along with the storm...

I'll be praying,
Carol

Yeah, weather can definately effect MS sx especially when you are talking hot and humid.  Do everything you can to stay cool. Cold showers, ice packs, fans, etc.

Sometimes I go to bed laying on an icepack, one on my chest, wash cloth on my forehead, and fan and air conditoning going.

Make sure you drink plenty of water and dont push yourself. When you are feeling bad, that's the time to go easy. Stay safe!

Hey there Yankie.  Storms and weather are bad on the body but don't usually produce fever.  If you have one, it is probably from an infection or inflammatory process.  Any chance you have a urinary or sinus infection?

There's a chance some fever reducer and staying well hydrated will help you control those symptoms.  It's going to be rough to manage this over the next few days with the bad weather fast approaching.  Get checked out NOW if you can to see if you need an antibiotic and then hold on tight with comfort measures to get through the storm.

Remember that heat from any source can (and usually does) intensify MS symptoms.  It does the same for neurological problems from other causes as well.  It doesn't matter if the heat source is external (like summer weather and hot tubs and heating pads) or internal (fevers).

Heat is a possible trigger of what is caused a pseudo-exacerbation or pseudo-flare.  That's increased symptoms that disappear in response to an adverse condition but disappear fairly quickly when the stimulus is removed.  It may be a faux flare but the crapola feeling is very real.

I think there is a Health Page on pseudos.  I'll look to post a link.

Stay safe.

Here's the link (even though I thought we had one devoted entirely to pseudo-flares)

http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Multiple-Sclerosis/Relapses--Pseudo-Relapses-and-Remissions/show/372?cid=36

Cool yourself in any way you can but don't make yourself shiver.  It's a hard balance to achieve when a fever makes you want to crawl under a blanket and sleep forever.

Let us know how you do.

, I live with ice packs, lol, my head and I have a date with one nightly. I think it was the humidity in the air, I also amd on a new medication which may be needing my body to adjust. I hope and Pray for all of us that we don't need any fhis soon. If I am not answering these in the right places forgive me, I am new here, I am a guy so, lol. One good thing about MS, I can blame some of my "forgetfullness" and mis spellings and typings on the "I'm a guy thing". If we don't laugh we will drown in teafrs.

I don't mind at all Jibs, I welcome anyone to respond, friend, vent, My Mom was diagnosed in the late 60's, early 70's right after I was born, I remember being very young her in hospital a lot and watching my dad give her shots, I used to feel so bad for her. I never in a million years thought 40 yrs later I would be dealing with it. I come from a family of 2 brothers, 3 sisters and I am the baby, no one else has MS or any other symptoms. I also want all of you to know My Mom is 78 years old and has lived quite well, medication free for many years so this isn't a DX of doom for any of us. I am here for anyone who wants and needs to just talk, feel free please. I hope you weren't to affected by the hurricane, my best and prayers to you Jibs.

Hey Hey ther yoself two, lol. I appreciate your kind advice, tomorrow I will try the warm compress instead, it either really hurts or I am just a baby to needles . I have some witch hazel I got to use on my pups mosquito bites so I will refrigerate and also try that. How much is you Dr. bill gonna be if this does the trick for me???LOL. I have a cooling vest I use when I get real overheated, it doesn't take much when it
s humid out. I miss being able to be out back with my dogs like I used to, but I get heated real quick and it just takes everything out of me. Ice packs and freezers and air conditioners, love them and don't wanna be without them. my nurse practitioner said the fevers she believes are from the injections, and in time should ease up, I pray every night she's right. It is clearer tonight, temps are lower so my headache isn't bad and I don't feel as achy as I have. As I said I was newly diagnosed beginning of this year,.They think I have had it for awhile and was having flare ups but because I also have a bad back and had 5 spinal surgeries since 2003 we attributed all my symptoms and falling, etc etc to the back. Once again thank you for being so kind and helpful it is much appreciated, it's nice to come to a place where people GET you and understand. Prayers to you.
