I am inspired by people who make the most of life.

Hi Forum Friends,
This is not a question but just something I wanted to share with you all.

For those who don't know me I am passionate about horses and horse riding, I try to participate in this hobby on a regular basis but sometimes I am afraid that I might have to give it up if my legs were to become weaker, or if the fatigue of riding becomes too much and some days it is difficult.

On the weekend I went to Adult Riding Club and one of my instructors was a lady who was a very talented horse rider who bred and trained some of the most amazing horses.  Sadly this lady has MS and unfortunately she is no longer able to ride her horses, she is now confined to a wheelchair.

I guess she could have decided to sell her horses, stay at home and be depressed because she can't ride anymore but instead she shares her knowledge by giving lessons from her wheelchair, very good lessons too, she also trains her horses from her wheelchair and has been focusing more on the breeding side of her animals.

It is amazing what you can do, what you can achieve, I guess we have to make the most of what life deals with us, we could choose to be angry and sad or try to make the most of what we can do and this lady does that, one of the ladies in our horse riding group said " I CAN'T trot over that pole on the ground, our instructor said, you can say your nervous, or afraid, or not sure if you are ready to do it, or might need some extra help but she said that the word CAN'T is not part of her vocabulary and you know what I believe that!!!  She is amazing to watch what she achieves from her motorised scooter and I imagine that to train a horse from a chair would not be easy but yep it can be done!!

I am always inspired by peoples attitudes and how they make the most of what card life has dealt them.  I felt truly inspired, and I think my instructor showed great courage and guts to continue in a sport that she loves so much from a totally different level

Hope I haven't bored you, but it inspired me.

Cheers,
Udkas.

Thank for that story Udkas, you are so right about that being an inspirational lady. True passion that occupies the human heart cannot be bought or swayed away from that which causes it's fulfillment.

Have a wonderful Monday

What an amazing lady indeed.  It is difficult to imagine how she can train her horses and give lessons from her wheelchair, but she is doing it.  I know I learned something from this story and next time I hear myself about to say the word "can't" I'll replace it with something else, something more positive.

Thanks for sharing the story of this really wonderful and inspiring woman.

Your story Inspired me,

I too am very passionate about my horses, ( we have 5 of them)

I was too afraid to ride anymore, as my balance was so off, afraid i would fall off, or not be able to control Anastasia ( My Horse)  so basically i quit,

My excuse, I can't, I cannot do this anymore, i am scared, well tonight when i come home from work, guess what, I am going to saddle her up and take her round the block, even if my husband has to pony me

My poor horse deserves better than what I am giving her right now, and your story made me see that

Thanks so much

and i think your riding instructor is a very very brave lady

Great post. It does us all good to have some positive reminders that we all have choice in our lives about how we approach everything. Some days are good, some not so good and others are *****. I shall remember that lady when I am having a bad day and another word that it is good to delete from our vocabulary is "SHOULD"

Thanks for your inspirational story

Sarah :)
