If it ain't one thing... Hiccups!

Well, first I had the MS hug and weak legs.  Then my stomach stopped telling me when it was hungry.  Now... hiccups.  They've been on and off all day long.  I hold my breath until I just about pass out, and they calm down, but fifteen minutes later, they're back.

Anybody else have any problems with hiccups?  I'm beginning to wonder if the weak legs/MS hug/stomach nerve/hiccups are all related.

How are the hicculps doing?  If you are over them, what worked?

Hicculps are no joke. They hurt and they tire you out.  Hope you are all better by now.

Hugs,

Julie

Just a spoonful of sugar... makes the medicine go down, right?

Actually, I have better luck with a spoonful of mustard.  I've tried them all at some point - paper bag, mustard, sugar, bitters and lemon, drinking water from the back side of the glass, holding my breath, getting your fingers as close as possible without touching them, everything except scaring myself.

My hiccups can be painful - and annoying, if I'm trying to eat!

I have been getting them, too.  I am in a flare right now.

Ummm, try standing on your head, hold your breath and take a drink of water!  May work, may not....but if you decide to do it, take video so we can all watch!  hehe

Seriously though, it is quite irritating.  I haven't figured out how to get rid of them either...

J - I'm sometimes the Pollyanna here much like Mary Poppins, but as silly as it may sound, the one thing that always works for me to stop the hiccups is a spoonful of sugar.

Take a small spoon of sugar and give it at try.  Who knows, it might work for you, too!

be well, be quiet!  LOL

I've tried everything that I can do here at work - holding my breath, drinking water...  They go away, but keep coming back.  Blissfully I've spent the last hour hiccup-free, so I don't want to jinx it.

Well, that sounds downright annoying! I hope they stop soon! Have you tried plugging both ears and drinking water (you'll need someone to hold the cup for you LOL)? That always used to help get rid of hiccups for me.

Yup, me too... not that I need to be any crazier!

I think it has to be the MS.  Hiccups are caused by irritation to the phrenic nerve, possibly an involvement with the brainstem.

No kidding I totally had that problem two days ago.  I was getting so Irritated.
I kept getting the hiccups every time I stood up.  They would last for about a min then stop.  Then everytime I sat down they started as soon as I stood up.

I have no idea if there is a relation to MS or not, but I am in a flare right now and all kinds of wierd stuff is happening with me.

Our symptoms seem to be so similar overall, so maybe it is MS?  I don't know if I have the MS hug, I am still looking for a precise definition on that.  I have spasticity between a couple ribs on either side and blinding pain when I try to rub around those ribs.  It does not band all the was around with me though.

Hope you are doing better soon.  Hiccups drive me crazy
