There is a difference, but I'm not the one to try and explain it.  Sorry.

My LP showed no O bands and nothing abnormal, but my stepson's LP showed elevated IgG  and +5 O bands. His Ped's neuro seemed to think that this finding was more consistant with MS rather than ADEM.  But they are still watching him before they dx anything.  I on the other hand am still dx with ADEM after two years of no change. I would really like to know how significant the LP findings are concerning an MS dx? Anyone know??

If your lumbar puncture shows an elevated IgG index, it will serve as one more piece of evidence towards MS.  I have and elevated IgG, but no O-bands.
