Hi guys,
I'm back, after being told by neuro no ms then 2nd ms very unlikely, have had 2 lots of brain and whole spine mri's both clearClear by design Clear eyes Clear eyes acr Clear eyes clr Clear-atadine Clear-atadine children's both done without contrast though, 2nd neuro told me my thyroid antibodies were very high and put me on steroids for 9 days, absolutely no change.
So here I go again,
June 07 faceFace pain pain both sides of faceFace pain under eye brows, down noseNose fracture, cheeks around jaw it was a dull 24/7 constant chronic faceFace pain pain, also had a very servere cold twiceTwice-a-day that I could not shake. Face pain laster about 8 weeks non stop no medication from dr stopped it.
About July I noticed tingling hands, feet, back right leg, groin, numbish feel to face and under feet.
Tingling lasted 24/7 thru to about November then stopped. But now it comes when I'm hot or drive or walk etc. My feet today still numbish and if I rub my fingers over top of foot they vibrate, buzz. I had weird feeling up arms (gone) weird feeling up legs still there, groin tingling always comes and goes, have been dizzy for about 6 months, no spinning just feel stupid in head and more dizzy when I turn head. I burn, get cold spots, zap and buzz, neuro told me high antibodies mean hashimotos enc........(some long name) he thought steroids would take it all away. Now he says ms very suggestive and I am to go into hospital for steroids and a L.P. But says if no bands or even just 1 he still can't dx me with ms. He told me to google H.E and says my symptons fit, even the worsening in heat as its inflammatory. I am no fool and yes in my heart I feel I have ms, there is absolutley nothing else this could be, I have gone from witty, organised and hyper person to a depressed, anxious and very peeved person with a worsening memory even my daughter has told me mum you keep saying the wrong words. This really sux, neuro says steroids may help still maybe thyroid antibodies, and I felt like telling him yes and my brothers mickey mouse................
Any advice would be great, if the LP if neg what then, I know I had burning feet years ago, I've also suffered dizziness before and 3 times I had lower back period pain that come and left. Would 2 clear brain and whole spine mri's and if my LP is neg mean definately no ms or is it just wishful thinking?
I'm scared the LP is gonna show ms and I'm scared it won't. I am definately in limboland..........
Help me guys, Melissa
What a horrible thing to have going on. At least dr. is now looking further at the MS picture.
You said your thyroid antibodies were high. What about your TSH, FT3 and FT4? DId they do a thryoid panel?
Treatment for hashimotos is replacement of thryoid hormones (I think the steroid are supposed to calm down your immune system, which is why he thought they would help).
Hypothryoid can cause some of the symptoms you have. Hypothryoid causes depression, memory problems (brain fog), energy problems, can cause muscle pain, etc. It needs to be treated. Have you been referred to an endocrinologist? If not, you need to ask for a referral. Have they done a thryoid ultrasound? Is your thyroid large or small? Hashimotos (hypo) can be treated, with huge impact on quality of life....
Oh, it is possible to have Hashi and MS. These autoimmune issues can seem to go hand in hand. I have hypo, but no diagnosis for the other stuff...
My thyroid and everything else is supposed to be fine, I was diagnosed in 2004 with a multi nodular goitre and have to have blood test and ultrasound done yearly to make sure no cancer or thyroid not over or under but thats all ok.
Its my antibodies that are sky high, he wants me to try steroids again now in hospital, and while I am there I asked for a L.P. which he also says a good idea, (yes and I am paying him). He says it could still be antibodies but I am not holding my breath, when I looked up H.E I couldn't find half my symptons.
Great to hear from you again,
Melissa
