I'm soooo excited

Hey there everyone, it's been a while but I've still been watching the wonderful people on here.

Last week I had to call my reg doc to have him order my B12 bloodwork (since it's been 6 months).  I also asked the nurse if he could order a Vit D blood test as well. The nurse asked "why?" and I said, I'm just curious. She said sure no problem. (that's why I continue to go there, they are easygoing)

I just got my lab results, my b12 is way up (over 600, it was around 390 before). HOWEVER my Vitamin D was 15!! Which I think is pretty low.

MAYBE this is the answer to some of my problems!!!  I hope it is, I really do.

I'm so proud of myself for researching as much as I have been doing and speaking up and requesting it.

Anyone else have Vitamin D issues along with their MS.

I'm still in limboland by the way. I have read about the correlations between the two, but at least on the right track now.

YIPPY!!!!!

I'm proud of you too!

If I ever had mine checked, I'm not remembering and nothing was brought to my attention. Your post is a good reminder to me that I need to just ask!
Thanks!

Hey there,

I just got a fax back from my doc. He recommends 1000 IU of D3 per day.

It's over the counter. I just bought some and took my first dose.

I hope you hear from the soon.

I recently found out that my vitamin D level is 10. I started taking supplements on my own since my neuro said to follow up with my PCP and my PCP hasn't returned my call. Not sure how much I am suppose to be taking but I will call my PCP again to see if I can find out.

Hope you get it taken care of and feel a bit better.

Take Care,
Paula

I am in limbo as well, and yes I have Vit. D deficiency. I take 50,000 units 1 x week. I don't know what my  level is, I just know its low and I have been on my vit. D for 3 years now.

Well done for being assertive and asking for the Vitamin D test. This seems to be topical today! It feels like a long road to find some answers but this is another small piece of the puzzle.

I am wondering if anyone iwith MS n UK has been tested for Vitamin D levels as my neuro just said it won't hurt to take a supplement?
