Interactive View of Optic Neuritis

Hi Everyone,

I just found this webiste that allows you to view eyes with optic neuritis interactively, so I thought I'd share it.

http://www.richmondeye.com/apd.asp

Just scroll down towards the bottom and you'll see several sets of eyes, then just move your mouse back and forth across the eyes to see how the pupil dilation changes.

Thanks,  :-)
Kelly

I didn't have APD or a swollen disk.  Nothing visible.  But I did have an abnormal VEP and enough damage that they can see it on the MRI, and I was given 3 days of IVSM.

Thanks Bob. You're right; it shows the APD that you may present if you have optic neuritis (or something else going on).  In my case, I did have these signs in my right and my left eye each time I had it.

Just a heads up.  That is a demonstration of the Afferent Pupil defect.  Not everyone with Optic Neuritis gets this.  One of the big issues with Optic Neuritis is that 50-60% of people with an abnormal VEP will have no "anterior signs."  They will complain of decreased vision, color changes, possibly diplopia, etc. but may have a normal exam and normal pupillary reflex.
