Is it MS or pinched nerve

Hello , need help , please if anyone can guide me thru , this is my story . I had sciatica pain in 2009 and it went away .Now from last few months it came back and was really bad and i did some wrong manual handling which caused injury on my left side where sciatica pain was .So i went to a massage person and after few weeks i started getting tingling in my hands and feet . So i went to my Doctor and she said we need to get MRI of brain done which came out Normal so she said its anxiety ,.I told her that i have spinal cord issues in past to which she completely ignored  . Still i was getting tingling in my legs but not in my hands anymore so i thought should take second opinion so Changed doctor  when doctor asked about getting MRI done i told that i had one done recently and was all normal .So he said its Hyperventilation and try to do some breathing exercise . I have got very tensed muscles around my neck and they are very stiff . Still this tingling was bothering me and i noticed that it was not constant only happened when i crossed my legs . SO i went to Physio explained him everything and he said its a nerve that's  being pinched .So he said as your back and neck are so stiff we need to do acupuncture and will help lot . That night after so long i slept like a baby . But still its happening in my both legs now only when i sit at one position for long or cross my legs . Once i sit or change position my tingling goes away . Now my worry is that does it happen that first MRI wont show Ms or its just a pinched nerve . I am so stressed out and need guidance from anyone who has anything same happening to them .Please if anyone can help by sharing their symptoms .

I agree with ess. While the symptoms may be similar, if the problem is in your lumbar spine it is not MS.

Hi there. I want to mention that the lumbar spine does not contain any of the spinal cord, so problems there cannot be attributed to the central nervous system. MS is a CNS disease.

Yes, nerve compression can cause pins and needles. It can also cause many other symtoms that mirror MS. I have had both lumbar disk problems and lumbar spinal stenosis. In both cases the symptoms were similar to those associated with my MS. Also in both cases, once the conditions were corrected, the symptoms went away.

I second Kyle. I have a bad disk in my neck and have a lot of symptoms from that. I do not think you need to worry about MS.

Welcome to our group :-)

What you describe does not sound like MS to me. MS symptoms don't ease when you change position. It does sound like you have some type of nerve compression.

It can be hard to tell the difference between nerve compression and MS related nerve damage. I've had both. I have learned first hand that spine related issues are no day at the beach :-)

Has anyone taken pics of any kind of your lumbar spine, looking for disk issues?
