I also have stiffness and pain around my hip and knee--it can be different areas depending on the day
I have had my whole left side cramp up for over a day and became numb all over (& I mean all over) my left side
I get really tired when walking and it is really painful..I feel like I can't walk "right"
I am really not trying to whine....just really wondering if this is what a lot of you guys call spasticity?? I am grateful that it is on only one side!!! LOL
I had to stop wearing taller shoes, because my feet just hurt too much. The feeling of being twisted and contorted I think is due to spasticity - the weakness in your ankle is probably that clonus thang...
Unusual stiffness and pain, especially cramps, are what I think of as spasticity. If you wake up with a sore muscle and it doesn't go away, that's spasticity. A lot of times it comes with muscle weakness.
I quess I define it as muscle spasms that never end. I have the contracture in my right hip because of the spasms, the spasms turned into spasticity and the spasticity has turned into a contracture. If that makes any sense. Please check with your dr about this it can get serious quickly if the spasms are not treated. I too have problems walking because of it.
Craig has alot of spasticity in both legs. The physiatrist had him buy an incline board. He sits and places his heels on the bottom of the "hill" and the rest of his feet are on the incline.
This makes his muscles have tremors from being stretched. But after using it about three times a day, his legs do feel better.
Make sure that your spasicity is NOT coming from your hip...meaning that you are not having a problem with one leg being in a spasm and the other not...and this is what is actually causing the pain in your hip. Even back problems can cause pain in the hip and the result can be spasms in the legs. We tend to over compensate and we don't realize that we are favoring one side over the other. This causes a change in our gait and it can actually CAUSE the spasm.
Your complaints of your hip hurting makes me think of this. It's something worth bringing to the attention of your doctor. If it's coming from the back, I think you would want to know. Maybe you can be treated differently and get some help with this.

I didn't know it could be in your mouth!!! This stuff just never ends?
I hope you get better soon!
