Itchy

Good Morning,
Just a question... suddenly I've developed a itch, crawly sensation!  I think I've had it before but honestly can't remember.  I have a cold and suddenly feel like there is something crawling on me starting with my scalp.  I've checked there is nothing there!  Not taking or doing anything different.  As some of you will remember I was diagnosed with PPMS in 2008.  I don't have "relaspes" things just seem to appear at times.  I'm not due to see neuro again until next summer... any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I'm very new to this forum and have not been diagnosed with anything for certain yet. It's just amazing to go through all this and see other people have the same problems I have even though I'm not diagnosed. I have complained about the itching to my doctors before and was always just told it was anxiety or stress. Sometimes it does feel like something is just running around on my scalp. I have flairs of these and seem to be happening more often. Hate that others are having the same thing but glad I'm not alone. I'm always thinking people are going to think I have bugs when I start itching my head, and anywhere else.

Hey Lisa... Maybe we could have a scratching party together... I hope by the time you receive this yours has resolved!  Mine comes and goes... I'm sure bystanders think I have bugs as I begin to scratch :)  Oh well... thanks for the reassurance that I'm not alone with this.

I too, get the unbearable itching at times.  I tried benadryl and atarax.  Sometimes it helps alleviate part of the itching but it doesn't take it all away.  I have to grin and bear it for the most part.

I also have the feeling that I got lice or bugs in my hair.  I also get itching on the sole of my feet, palms of my hands, in between toes (no I do not have a fungal infection LOL).

It can literally drive you insane!  I can only thank god that it doesn't last too long.  This week however, its been about 4 days and I've had enough already.

I hope it's on its way out!

Dang - and I was totally going to say scabbies, lol I'm SO kidding. If that what it is, I have them too, lol!

Na - Seriously, I get it on and off, but in addition to the feeling of something crawled through my hair, I get a serious pinching, burning and itching on the inside of my arms on and off. I could rip my skin off it drives me so crazy. There is nothing there, no spots, no bumps, nothing. Can last days, or hours - it varies so much.

I would say since there is nothing there you can see either, it's more than likely parethesias caused by the damage from your MS.

Thank you for your input Kyle & CanCanRun.  I am not on Amitriptyline... I'll have to give my neuro a call.  I did remember (that's an accomplishment) that I recently had a flu shot.... I wonder if that was a trigger.  I am not allergic... no rash!  Thanks again for the input at least now I don't think I'm crazy :)

During my relapse when I was being diagnosed I had both itching and crawling sensations. I would actually scratch myself so badly during my sleep that I would bleed. And the crawling sensation felt like thousands of ants were crawling all over me. My neuro told me these are "normal" (haha) symptoms of MS.

Do you take Amitriptyline?  It helps with a lot of the sensation issues.

At times I've had an itch on the back if my shoulders that no amount of scratching would relieve. It turns out this is definitely an MS symptom.

Hello, I just read your post and while I have never had this sensation that I remember I have read that some MS patients do. Also, last time I got a cold my sysptoms seemed to get worse, and a few new ones popped up. I am sure if this helps you, but I thought it might be good info to know.

FYI  I don't have anything like scabies or lice...  I just have this weird feeling!  I re-read my post and thought crap these people are gonna think I have bugs or something!  I worked in the medical field for years and witnessed both of those first hand... I don't have them and I would freak if I ever found anything like that... just wondered if anyone ever had a similar feeling.
