It's not MS - to Jenn & Quix

My mother suggested the cause of my probs could be carbon monoxide, therefore I went for a test - even though my carbon levels were high, my blood gas was normal.  We have bought a CO alarm.

My husband has developed similar symptoms to me, he has sinus tachy now, his heart rate was racing at over 100 bpm last night.  This morning when he woke up he had unequal pupils, I was convinced it was CO.  (Carbon Monoxide).  Turns out it might not be.  But he is having trouble speaking properly, he has brain fog, pain, fatigue etc... I'm very worried.  Whatever is affecting me is affecting him.

I had a neurological examination yesterday and passed it with flying colours.  I don't know what is going on.

My baby's heart rhythm is also weird, it is fast then slow all the time like mine does.  I am convinced it is either a) to do with a virus we all had in April (when my symptoms started) or b) something in the house/water which is poisoning us.

What a relief it would be to find out all of this is environmental rather than a disease (even though I know you guys are feeling horrible right now)!  Sounds like you finally got a doc that will listen to you.  Keep an eye on that baby, and let me know what happens.

I told the hospital doctor about my baby and he said to me that babies heart rates are fast and erratic.  My husband and i are still very irritable at the moment.  I don't know what his rate was like last night but mine this morning after the beta blockers wore off was actually down to 90 ish coming down the stairs so that was a little reassuring.  We could easily both be suffering some kind of nervous exhaustion.  I know I am exhausted.

I put a post on the Anxiety board which you might want to read.

I've tried to call the health visitor this morning with regards to my baby, I want her to come to the house and give him a check up.  Just to be on the safe side.

I'm so sorry to hear about the whole family being ill, though I want to caution you about interpreting heart rates as being pathological.  Your husband's heart rate of over 100 is high for a resting rate, but is not pathological, nor would it be considered a tachycardia.   It certainly isn't "racing."  It isn't even near his target rate for moderate exercise.

Most people have what is known as a "sinus arrythmia".  Everyone reading this who is not on a  medication to alter their heart rate should try this.  As the normal person breathes, their heart rate changes (sometimes quite markedly) in response.  As you take a breath in your heart rate will quicken.  Then as you exhale your rate will slow.  This is normal.  It may be what you are perceiving in the baby. This reaction to the breathing pattern usually disappears as adults age.

But, if you really think your baby's heart rate is abnormal, you need to get it checked IMMEDIATELY.  I mean today!  Babies can't tolerate the same kind of stresses adults do, so don't just sit around looking for unequal pupils.  You baby needs checking.

Also, something to think about~ if it was a toxin coming from the house itself like a gas, the baby would be most affected, I believe; most vulnerable, don't you think?  Strange.  Perhaps it is a virus or something.  I'm not a nurse, I just play one at work, unfortunately.  Wish I could be of more help.  Do take care and feel better.

Blessings,

Christina*

What about lead or metals?  Have you had your dishes checked?  I've heard sometimes beautiful dishes or heirlooms can have dangerous levels of toxins of different sorts over time.  It's a thought.  So sorry to hear about all of you being ill.  Take care.

Hi there, I have checked, we have no mold as such.  Thought there is some gunge that occurs around the taps on the sink frequently.  I am keeping an eye on everyone at the moment.  The gas board are coming to check the gas appliances thoroughly, I'm also going to get the water tested and get samples of the brown gunge that comes out of the shower head and taps etc...

My husband may have been having a bad dream last night when I noticed his heart rate, however, he has complained recently about tachy and palps for three days now, and my baby son's heart rate is worrying.  I mentioned it to the nurse at the hospital and she reassured me that babies heart rates are very erratic.  But his last night was 5 fast beats two slow ones 5 fast beats two slow ones etc...

Hubby has had tachy and skipped beats or ectopics like I started with before i was put on the beta blockers.  And we're so sleepy all of the time.
