JAW STIFFNESS AND TN

JAW STIFFNESS AND TN

good morning everyone,
I havnt been around for a couple months because I have been feeling alot better, until a week 1/2 ago....everything is coming back, twitches, weak leg and arm, exhausted, sore and tender scalp, trigeminal neuralgia but on both sides off and on, not real painful though.....shocking pains here, there and everywhere !!

My question is does anyone know if TN can cause jaw weakness, stiffness....like you feel like you cant chew or talk anymore???    this has been going on for a week or so, both sides my jaws are so tired and stiff??

Hope everyone is doing ok....

Sllow have you found anymore out on your srynix vs lesion?? I have been getting these numb patches right next to my spine in and around the location of my srynix.

good to talk to you all...

thanks for the welcome back....glad you havnt had any more problems with the TN...mine really not terrible, but this jaw thing is annoying, at my jaw line on both sides from below my ears to my chin I get this twitching then the stiffness/weakness is at the joint...

I like talking to people here, but all this medical stuff was consuming my life and after my last diaster w/neuro I decided to focus on other things and not go back to any doctor unless I couldnt walk , talk or see....surely by then (if that happens) they would believe me or find something. I just cant take the " everything is normal " again.

hope you are doing ok,,,anything new on the dx end for you?

I've had issues on and off with my jaw being really stiff and sore.  Also I get a crampy feeling in the muscles of my neck, especially below the chin, and around the adam's apple.  During Christmas my jaw felt weak - I only noticed it because I was chomping on a candy cane!

So I don't think that TN is specifically causing your jaw stiffness and weakness.  My unofficial take on it is that you've got some neurological involvement that includes the nerves leading to your face and jaw.  Therefore it's logical that the muscles in that area are spastic, weak, and twitchy.

I should say that I've had trigeminal neuralgia, mostly tingling and numbness, but a bit of pain as well.

Yes, the Trigeminal Nerve does have a segment that deals with the muscles of chewing.  Most of the nerve is involved with sensation which explains your tingling, numbness and severe pain, but fatigue after chewing would be attributed to the Trigeminal Nerve also.

Thanks guys,
This is a constant weak, stiff feeling. Hope it goes away soon.

I also called about getting local radiologist to look at my latest mri...I've had 2, he read my 1st one in june 07, but 2nd was done in lexington, ky.
Figure it was worth it to get one person to compare both of them.

talk to you all later

I shouldn't have limited my esplanation to fatigue with use.  It also could make the muscles actually weak or feel weak all the time.
