Joint pain

Hi, I am a 23 year old female diagnosed with MS and a pituitary prolactinoma in November. I have recently (the past week) been experiencing severe joint pain in my knees and elbows, and mild pain in my hips and ankles. I was just wondering if my pain would most likely be caused by my MS or something else. Would just like to know before I bother my neuro being that I dont have health insurance.

Hi there,

Welcome! Cool screen name, btw. Since this kind of came on suddenly w/in the past week, I do think you should call the Doc. Just ask to speak to him that way you don't get charged for a visit.

Like Twopack says it's not so typical for MS too cause your joints pain like this, maybe something is contributing to make this happen.

If you don't mind me asking, what meds are you on? Anything new?

Thank you for joining us and hope we can help you out.

MS doesn't cause joint pain directly.  I do believe people with MS can experience some joint pain when the muscles connected to joint bones are spasming, causing limbs to be pullled this way and that.  I would be looking for another cause of such diffuse pain.
