Just curious about vertigo

A week or so ago I woke up with my vision jerking around, and then when I got up it was just bizarre, I couldn't walk straight!  I mean, for the life of me, I could not do it... and my cats were all excited to see me up, you know, all brushing up against my legs :P - oh man, thought somebody's paws were gonna get trod on.  The jerky-vision only lasted a couple minutes, but the vertigo stuck around for two days, and whoo-ee!  What a doozy!

I was just thinking - this is probably something a lot of you deal with on a daily basis.  And I was just curious if anybody wanted to share their experiences with vertigo.

I don't know, it's just that I've had "dizziness" for years, but it was nothing like THIS.  Ha, and I sort of figured that dizziness and vertigo would look pretty much the same, but boy was I wrong!  I just have renewed respect for people dealing with this stuff.  Yikes!

I just wanted to say - thanks everybody for sharing!  I am wishing you guys well :)

Oh my god, a whole summer or six months!!  Also, haha, tonyad, I know what you mean about looking a little tipsy... oh dear :P  And about the steering being off - ha, if my vertigo comes back, I am definitely going to think of that and see if that helps!

I wish there was a medicine for this too!  I tried taking meclazine (I think that's Bonine?) for the nausea, but I don't know if this helped.  If anyone out there has any suggestions, I'd love, love, love to hear them!

Thanks again :)  I hope you guys are hanging in there - and I hope the dizziness stays away!!!  Best to you all -

With mine when it is at its worst, I actually have to close my eyes to turn my head (slowly) then open my eyes after my head is where I want it to be looking at. And, also when it is at it's WORST, I have to drop down to ground and crawl and while I am crawling I am totally tipping. Not funny while it is happening but certainly a funny site to laugh at when it's over.

Otherwise, like most of you, I deal w/ a lot of dizziness every single day! I wonder if that attributes to SOME of the balance issues?  And "NOPE" I do not drink!   Lol
It sure looks as if I do sometimes though.

Yup, same here.  It started right before the flare that got me diagnosed.  I had jerky vision, my eyes kept vibrating, and the room looked like it was spinning around.  Then the next day I couldn't walk straight - every time I went forward, I ended up going about 45° to the left.  It was just like when the steering in your car is really off, and you have to hold the wheel sideways so your car will drive normally.  Then the vertigo started, and lasted for six months.

All this took a while to go away.  I had constant vertigo every day for a long time.  I still get occasional bouts of nystagmus and vertigo.  Fortunately my steering problem resolved itself in three months or so.

Vertigo Yes I have this, the world seems to be spinning and my vision is jumping around. even laying down, I still feel everything spinning.  usually when I wake up like this, my sx are far worse (sometimes new ones joins in or old sx are worse) and my heat intolerance isn't helping either.

Last summer, I lived (if you could call it that) with vertigo every single day. it was worse in the hot summer afternoons, but by then I was already stuck on the couch or my bed.

Vertigo is my 4th major sx of my weird neurological sx. I'm sorry you are dealing with it to.

I found that SOMETIMES if I keep my eyes open and have my foot on the floor, the vertigo isn't as bad. Also if I can keep myself cooled down. its not fool proof, but I'd take anything that helps.

the only medication I'm on is xanax and a herb; these are for my other conditions. but the herb helps me a lot with these weird symptoms (muscle spasms, pain, etc.) a lot.

I don't know about others experience. When I had it the room spun when I closed my eyes as well as when they were open. The slightest movement of the head and everything whirled.
