I am thinking of trying low dose naltrexoneNaltrexone Naltrexone hydrochloride for MS treatment. I walk with a cane for short distances, use a wc for long distances (airports). I am also on antidepressant medication, have a baclofen pump and take lyrica for nerveNerve biopsy Nerve conduction velocity pain (legs). I am hoping the LDN will help with the depression and also help me to walk with less assistance. has anyone had any experience with this? Any information on side effects?
My husband has been on LDN since March 2008. He originally had an improved quality of life from it. It gave him more energy, it made him happier and he had a more positive outlook on life.
However, it did very little for his symptoms. Originally, his legs felt better, but that only lasted for a month or so.
He is going through a rough phase right now, and I don't think the LDN is making much of a difference. He has increased fatigue, trouble swallowing, and increased spasticity in his legs.
He also has had an increase in his neurological deficits. So many things he could do last year, he can't do now. Much of his balance is lost.
I would recommend trying it. Everyone responds differently to it, and there are no side effects. It is also rather inexpensive. It is always good to increase your quality of life, and if that happens when you try LDN, then that's a good thing.
Just remember, LDN effectiveness reports are purely anecdotal. It's just people sharing their experiences. Good Luck.
