L'Hermitte's

I am trying to figure out if what I am feeling might be L'Hermitte's.

When I bend my head forward I feel pulling and a lot of weakness in my legs.  It causes buzzing in my fingers.

I have understood it is actually a shock like feeling.  I just feel pulling and weakness.

Could this be L'Hermitte's?

That's the term I was looking for!  I couldn't remember it for the life of me.....

I haven't had it, and am un dx, but I've heard that's what it feels like.....???

Maybe someone else will know better....

Lhermitte's was my first symptom of MS and I have gotten it intermittently since June 2006.  I get it in various parts of my body at different times.  It started as a pronounced electric shock that buzzed from the base of my neck to my feet.  Later it was just a mild buzzing/vibration in right thigh.  Lately it was a tugging sensation (non-electric) on the tops of both feet.  On all occasions, it was activated by forward flexion of my neck.  I would never describe as painful, but sometimes is jarring in that I forget about it and it suprises me when it resurfaces.  It has not caused weakness for me.  It is quite often activated when I walk briskly or jog.

I used to get shocks or something that felt like a rubber band snap.  In my neck and arms when I would bend my head.

It was surprising when it happened because it was so intense.  I am now getting the same type of snap or shock in my toes.

Do you think what I described sounds like it might be Lhermitte's?  I am diagnosed so it really does not matter.  I have not said a lot to my neuro about this but she is aware of it.

Oh my goodness!  I get the exact snapping rubber band thing in my neck when I turn my head, and have never known how to even describe it.  I sort of see stars for a second.  And it is very intense.  That fits perfectly!  But I'm undiagnosed, so let me know if you find out that it's a form of L'Hermitte's.

L'Hermittes is a tingling and vibration feeling going down your spine, when you bend your head forward.  This was one of my first signs of MS.  It did not extend into any of my limbs, just this "buzzing" feeling going down my spine.  I was later told that this is caused by my upper throacic spinal lesion.

Oh I forgot, the "symptom" disappears, when you straighten your neck back and will "re-appear" when you bend your head forward again.

Does it "have to" happen each and every single time you bend your head forward?

Because I do get electrical zaps down the left side of my spine, but not because I've bent my head down.

I also ~sometimes~ get zaps if I turn my head a particular way while checking my blind spot on the left while driving.

AND, wait! There's more! Behind door #3, I get numb feet when I bend over at the waist to blow dry my hair.

What's my prize?

I have Llermettes as well.  Yes it can come and then go away again. It comes on and can last for weeks etc then go away for months.  Mine is there so often that I dont notice it coming or going as much as before. Its just there.  I get an electric tingling INTENSE tingling in my spine that travels to the inferior border of my right scapula.  No weakness, No tugging etc just major intense electrical sensation.  I do not get it if I turn my head. That is more indicitive of a bulging disk or something that would press on a nerve or something I think???  I've never heard of Llermettes with turning the head.  Only flexing the neck forward.  Good Luck!
