Leg Brace for foot?

Leg Brace for foot?

Hi there, I'm having a problem with my left foot turning inward and sometimes I hit the ground with my foot.  It's like my leg just didn't pick up my foot.  I mentioned it to the Neuro who suggested some type of Work Boot.  We looks for some and I found them way too heavy for walking etc.

just wonder what how a leg brace might help.  He said I might need that if the boots don't work out for me. ?

anyone have ideas on this?  Thanks alot

I recently had a smo brace made for my ankle. My left fooot was so pronated (leaning in) that I had bad pain & trouble lifting my leg as well. I went to an orthotist. Their specialty is making these braves so u should try & check one out. Is not a real bulky brace but u need to wear it with sneakers.  Hope this helps!! Good luck!

I got a brace for my right foot due to the same problems you are talking about just a few months ago. I really does help a lot. I can almost walk normally again ( though the difference in leg lengths does make me limp a little bit ).  Since getting my brace I have not fallen or tripped over a shadow once.

The brace is made of a composite material and goes from just below your knee along the outside of your leg and ends with a foot shaped section that fit inside your shoe ( hence the sneakers ).

I have only found 3 drawbacks to the brace.

1) makes it a little harder to drive ( mine is right foot )
2) Have to go up and down some inclines sideways like a crab. ( it keeps your ankle from flexing very much )
3) My right legs gets a little bit over heated by the end of the day.

One other think I have noticed. After wearing the brace all day when I take it off my right leg seems to behave for a while like it is remembering what my leg should do naturally.
