Leg Pains...really sore.

by Wobbly, Jun 23, 2009 12:34AM
Hi everyone, I'm having a difficult time with my legs... I get these horrible pains in my thighs...usually it was my left leg only, now it's both legs.  When I get up in the morning, it's not bad, but as the day progresses and with the small amount of walking I do at home the pain starts up.. It's really hard to explain it....it's in patches, comes and goes, burning feeling, achy too...it moves around to different areas of my legs.. could be on the side part, or inside of thigh or calf of legs... the pain doesn't stay along time, but it comes back quite quickly and sometimes it really hurts my hubby rubs them to help with the pain.  I also will put a heating pad on to help with the pain.

What causes these type of pains, I get them everyday now and they seem to be getting worse?  They are not like charley horses cramps...but do feel like a cramp too... burning, tightness feeling... putting pressure on it helps at times too?

any ideas?  I do take 300mg of Gabapentin and will be going up to 600mg soon.

thanks for any help with this.

Hi wobbs

Sorry to hear about your pain.  Can you rest a while?  keep heat and keep

your legs elevated?  I also took neuronton at a high dosage, but zanaflex may help

also.  Do you think

is a combination of spasms and parathesia?             Linda

Wobbly aren't you the one who has uncontrolled anemia?  If so low iron can cause the symptoms you are describing....but then again so can neurological damage.

That was probably of no help :0)  It is a foggy day!

Yes I'm the one with the Iron Transferrin Saturate is at a low rate?? My RBC is normal range?   I haven't had my blood tested for 8 months now.. better ask my GP about getting things tested again, I'm still taking my Iron and Folic acid stuff..etc. B12 shots... Vit D etc

I find it very difficult to explain to the specialist about the leg pains...it comes out funny when I try to explain it.. I'm not sure what they are so it's difficult to tell her..?

thanks for the replies and I'm heading off to Physio, I'll mention it to her and see what she might say??

take care
