Leg cramps.....causes?

Hi all, I was up all night with horrid leg pain. The muscles in my right foot and then my right calf started the fun.  The worst was by far my left shin muscle.  I have verry muscular legs due to the way that I walk.  I have never had any MS problems with my legs.  I was in teh French Quarter in NO last night. I did some walking with my family. I did not do more or faster than normal.

Any ideas what would cause this?  It was almost solid pain for 4 hours. I get muscle cramps that bad in late pregnancy, but not on a usual basis.  Earlier this week I noticed some mild cramping of the fingers.  It seen to be all muscular.  I am wondering if my potassium is in the dumpster or if I am totally dehydrated.  I am goingto the bathroom as much as usual, so I really don't think that it is dehydration.

Help!  My arms are cramping as I type.......

I wake up with a Charlie horse every morning. My theory is I stand weird because of the MS. I try to stretch a lot.

Keep stretching the muscles affected, and try ice on them - I hear it works well for spasticity, if that's what it is.

If it felt like a charlie horse, then it probably was a spasm.  I get those in my big toe, and in both calf muscles.

I have eaten a bananna and drank lots of water today.  The offending shin muscleis sore, but it is not cramping. It was like a "charly horse".

Did you injure your foot or leg in some way?  100% of the time when I hurt my foot, the calf muscle starts cramping.

Hmmm... if you're having cramping all over, that indicates something different - check with your neuro, you may be going into a flare.
