Lhermitte's signal

Lhermitte's is the only symptom I have. Brain MRI at 1.5 tesla power was normal and neuro work up was normal. My primary and chiro think its a pinched nerve that's causing the sensation down my back, arm and leg. I'm a 37 y/o male, so my odds of MS are low. I also exercise a LOT, which may have caused pinched nerve, but have zero pain or other symptoms besides Lhermitte's.

Should I rest easy with my diagnosis or go to neuro?

There was a previous post here asking the same question ... LS showing as a presenting symptom vs a later symptom.
I will try to find it and bump for u.
Maybe people here chimed in stating it was an early sign I believe.

I do not know for myself if this was a first sign... However I remember always having this. So it was early or a first sign. I never took notice as it has been my normal now for years.

I would assume they are going to do a c spine MRI to look for both... A possibility of a lesion (as double vision stated lesions in spine cause LS) and also for the pinched/ compressed/ etc that may be going on.

I have a single lesion in my c spine... A small size of 5 mm that I assume is causing my LS... However I do also have a compressed disk too in there.

I will look for post now

Thanks for the help. Just curious if you had an opinion on this:

My chiro, primary and neuro don't think it's MS, but want a cervical MRI anyway, I assume to look for other things. I really don't want to bc of money.

Any idea why they don't think if is?its my only symptom and im a 37 yo male with no numbness or weakness, etc. do you think that's why?

Do you think that your case was he exception and not the rule as far as how it developed?

If that's your only symptom and MRI was clean, I doubt a neuro would want to do anything at this point.  If the symptom continues or comes and goes, or if additional symptoms occur, consider repeating the MRI in six months to a year.  Lhermitte's was my first and only MS symptom for a year with clean MRI.  Dx'ed with RRMS a year or so later after an onslaught of new neurological symptoms.  Keep an eye on it but don't get ahead of yourself with concern.

Have you been tested for B12 deficiency?  This can also cause Lhermitte's.

Oh, hang on, I just noticed you said you had a brain MRI.  Lhermitte's in MS is caused by lesions of the cervical and or/thoracic spinal cord.  If it is due to spinal cord compression, likewise you need a MRI of that area.  I've never heard of Lhermitte's due to whatever cause showing up on a brain MRI.

Good luck and come back it you have more questions or need support.
