Location of Lesions

I read somewhere that someone was told her one lesion was in the "wrong" place to be MS.  Is there a specific location that determines MS, such as right frontal lobe????    Thanks!

I guess instead of using "wrong", we should use "atypical".  I am one that has many lesions, but not in the most typical place for MS.  I was told right away that my MRI wasn't normal for my age-39 and I have @13 lesions.  I think he referred to it as the brain of a 70 year old--UGH!!!

With that being said, I think that any good doctor/neurologist will look at the complete picture and  if someone starts having all kinds of neurological problems will definitely do follow-up and look for the cause.  I would hope that someone with NO lesions would still be followed closely to find a cause.

When they did my first MRI, they were looking for an aneurysm.  I have always had migraines but they had gotten worse and I started having bad nose bleeds, then my face swelled slightly and went numb in one spot.  We were all shocked to see so many lesions in my brain.

With all that being said, do I think I am "atypical"?--probably.  Do I think that if I had 13 lesions in the periventricular area I would be a whole lot closer to a diagnosis?--probably!  I think so many of us here in limbo are most likely "atypical" or we would already be diagnosed.

I can tell the more problems that I have, the more my neuro is thinking MS--because you have to look at the WHOLE PICTURE.  I have NEVER been told that I absolutely did not have MS.  

I will refrain from using the word "wrong" and replace it w/ "atypical", because that is really a more accurate definition.

Thanks for that info Stacey, I can't believe how complicated and vast all of this is.  13 lesions and still no answers!   After my MRI the neuro said you have one of 3 things, vasculitis, ischemia, or early stages of MS.   That was it, no follow up!  Needless to say I never went back to him.  I have since moved and will be seeing a new doc in the next week.  I am so grateful to have found all of you so I know what I am up against early on.  Thanks again for your help Stacey.
