Thanks I'm new to this so will post a question as u suggest.
Hi hjl - Welcome to our little group.
We're an MS specific group and what you describe doesn't ring any MS bells for me. But I'm not a doc. In fact none of us are. Quixotic is a doc, but she is on hiatus from the forum.
This thread is a little on the old side, as the last post was nearly 3 years ago. Maybe you want to "Post a Question" and see if your husband's symptoms ring bells for anyone else.

My husband is experiencing throat problems - extremely dry, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, some acid reflux, mucus at back of throat & occasional traces of blood in phlegm. Wakes him up at night with dry throat so consequently tired. Blood tests & chest xray came back normal so now awaiting endoscopy. Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms - were worried could be oesophagus cancer but told blood tests would be abnormal if this was the case? Any comments appreciated as very worried!
Thanks Quix, with my current situation I have been feeling quite anxious lately. This makes sense. I'll monitor and check with my Neuro if it persists.
Hi, Ken. Yes, Difficulty swallowing is a common MS symptom, but the sensation of having a lump in one's throat is also more commonly associated with severe anxiety where it is called "globus hystericus". (globus - mass or lump and hystericus - due to anxiety) I don't like the term, but the association with anxiety is undeniable. Also, reflux is another possibility. Many intense emotions, like sorrow, also can create this feeling.
Give it a couple days, but if it gets worse or doesn't go away it has to be evaluated before anyone can deem it neurological OR anxiety.
