Lurking but busy...

Hey all...just wanted to drop in and let you all know that I am doing pretty darn good right now!  I am exercising 5 days a week and have lost 10 pounds!  It feels good and it's amazing how good this is for my lung problems and inability to breath!  I also am feeling much better physically as a whole and I hope that it keeps up!  Last time I was exercising I ended up with a relapse requiring the dreaded steroids and I DON'T want that again!

I got my new glasses yesterday...well one pair anyway, the sunglasses are not ready yet.  If any of you are in need of progressives...do yourself a favor and go for the Nikon progressives!  They are AWESOME!!!  There is NO distortion in my peripheral vision whatsoever and the progression into the lower part of the reading part of the lens is so gradual you really can't discern the difference.  I am so happy that now I can see the tv without squinting and read the tv guide without taking my glasses off...last night I got home and told hubby that I am going to go watch tv and read the tv guide at the same time so please don't disturb me as it is the most exciting thing in my life for the last 6 months or so...he had a good laugh!  But seriously...if you can afford the Nikon progressives it is highly worth it!

Well today is Saturday, May 16th and it is about 63 degrees F and 17 degrees Celcius...we are going to the lake on Tuesday and we are to expect a high of 8 on Monday, 5 on Tuesday (with a rain snow mix) and 3 on Wednesday with possibly 4-5 inches of snow :(((!!!  Now I have always wanted to see that area in the winter but NOT IN MAY!!!!  Oh well, we have a good furnace (we hope) and I bought a Yahtzee game and there is always crib right???  I don't think that the weather is going to stop us...it never has before but this year we also have 2 puppy dogs and I don't know if our 5th wheel is big enough for both of their attitudes if it's too cold to sit outside... hehe...Oh well...such is life I guess...its not gonna stop me that's for sure!

Anyway. we are leaving on Tuesday morning and will be back around the 29th unless of course the fishing is rocking and the sun is shining...we could stay a few extra days...so I will let you know how it goes of course and I hope all is well with all of you while I am gone.

Tight lines always,
Rena

What kind of exercise are you doing if I may ask??

Glad that the new progresives are working well for you!  I'm awaiting a pair and I have some reservations on them.  I hope I am as lucky as you were with yours!

I'm very glad to hear how well things are going for you!  I wish I could afford those Nikons, never mind that, I'm so glad that you got them; they sound soooooooo much better than these doggone earlier model progressives (that I got around a year ago :o).

I know that you will have a wonderful trip, and am so happy for that, too.  You deserve a wonderful time after all your hard work and determination; you ROCK!

It's gotten up to 82 here today, and is supposed to be 88 tomorrow, then dropping back down into the 60s.  I'll probably be yearning for the 60s when I'm in Orlando the second week in June, with temperatures in the 90s and the humidity high, too.  Oh well, I'll enjoy it thoroughly, even if I'm covered in sunscreen and submerged in a cool swimming pool.

No one has warned the fish that you are coming, have they?  You're sure to catch plenty, with your awesome boat and super-vision from the new glasses.

Bunches of Hugs,

Kathy

Rena,
I sure hope you find the hot spot and the big fish are biting.  After your long winter you deserve some great times on that new boat/

Don't forget to put the drain plug in before you launch your new boat, ok?  LOL

good luck,
Lulu

Thanks for all your wonderful wishes and I am sure going to do my darndest to catch the big one!  I am sure that even if the weather stinks that we will make the best of it and it will be nice to just spend time alone with hubby!

Pat...I am doing some warmups that were given to me at the lung clinic...basically just warm up stretches and then use the Nordic Track for as long as I can...I am up to 20 minutes and then I use my Ab machine and I am up to 30 reps on it and then I do leg lifts while lying on my back while I am using 3lb weights to strengthen my arms and then I cool down.  On opposite days I warm up and then walk as far as I can and I am up to 2.4 miles so far.  I got a pedometer and I am still working up to the 10,000 steps they recommend for a good daily work out but that is a while coming yet...I am only at about 4500.  Honey...I think that you really have to want to work out just like quitting smoking and I decided that if I was able to quit smoking for almost 2 years now, there should be no reason I can't do this.  It does help if you have someone to work with but I got tired of waiting around and it was just an excuse for me to not do anything cause I had no one to do it with.  I have to say though that my Ipod is a real life saver cause it makes the workout time pass incredibly quickly so if you don't have one consider it for yourself...think of it as a pre-success gift to yourself for losing the first 10 pounds!  Let me know if you are starting and how you are doing ok?  and GOOD LUCK!

Kathy...believe me, I certainly can't afford these glasses my dear but I figure that I have so many other troubles I owe it to myself to ensure that I can at least see what it is I am up against right?  hehe  They really are absolutely wonderful and I would recommend them to any one!  I am sorry but I don't envy you the heat although snow is not what I really had in mind!  Hope you have a good trip in June though as I am sure you will...take lots of pics ok?
Oh Yeah...I CAN'T WAIT to go fishing with my new glasses cause I will be able to tie on a fly in seconds now while hubby has to take his glasses off and all the rest...no more of that for me...he he...I will post some pics when I get home!

And Lulu...I have already reminded him to put the plug in the boat ha ha ha ha...this one is worth way too much to take a chance on like he did with the aluminum one!  hehe

Lots of Hugs,
Rena

Fish On!!

What do you use up there?  I've not fished anywhere north of Idaho, where I used these crazy sparkly "stimulators"  They worked well, and even my 8 year old nephew was catching fish!  My dad is trying to get me to take on the fly tying in the family, but I'm just too shaky.  Maybe I'll get my daughter to do it.

Have a wonderful trip!
Cheers,

I was just thinking about the benefits of fishing when there's snow; we used to fish for rainbow trout on this lake with strict limits.  My dad thought they were ridiculous, so he's catch a limit, bury it in the snow, keep fishing, do it again, then go back and retrieve his caches.

Yes, my dad was a scofflaw!  I also ate way too many rainbow trout as a kid and never ate any again once I left home.  Now I wasn't suggesting you go breaking any laws; just thought it was a kind of funny story.

If you do get snow, it will make for some lovely pictures of the trimmer you holding up your big catch!

Oh, and I agree that the glasses are money well spent!

Hugs,

Kathy
