MS Symptoms? Waiting For Diagnosis-CONFUSED

Hello Everyone,

So I am 19 years old, soon to be 20 and I have been dealing with some very frightening and aggravating symptoms. I am hoping someone could give me some guidance or insight? Please offer anything you can.

It worries me, and I am hoping someone who has MS or knows a lot about it could offer some advice? So I guess I will list off the various physical symptoms I have been experiencing on and off for about 7 months now... Also, they did not all start at once. It started with subtle ones then others etc Below, I listed the things I am going through...

- double vision, resulting in nausea
- headaches
- loss of balance and I become very clumsy and I fumble objects when handling them
- I am ALWAYS tired
- I am minding the heat and become even more tired after certain kinds of exercise
- my skin tingles often and is incredibly itchy (no rash)
- Sometimes I experience a lot of pain, sharp, stunning pain down my legs and in my arms. Also when I bend my neck certain ways, I feel pain down my legs
- My short term memory is lousy....long term is perfect
- I just feel weak a lot of the time.
- Sometimes my legs and arms feel numb, as if they are asleep, but they are not. Almost 'buzzy''

My family doctor put me through many tests (barium x-ray, chest x-ray, blood work, urine analysis & put me on cymbalta and other anti depressants), none resulting in a diagnosis of any kind. I had a MRI done, and she told me ''there are abnormalities in your white matter, but nothing to be worried about''.  However, my family doctor thinks IF ANYTHING is wrong, she thinks this is neurological, so I'm on a waiting list to see a specialist.I began to look at different things and the net seems to match my symptoms with MS, yet I know very little about this condition.

Thanks, Everyone.

Hey,

Thanks for the post. Yeah I am currently waiting to see a neurologist. I have not seen a Rheumatologist or even been suggested to see one. My family doctor said it could be Firbomyalgea but I'm highly skeptical of that, considering it's much more than just 'wide spread pain', ya know? Either way thanks again for the advice!

Hi there, you sure do have alot of symptoms that sound very familiar, these symptoms could be from so many different Neuro or Autoimmune Dx... MS is a Dx that need to have all the mimics ruled out and it sometimes take awhile to find answers.

Have you seen a Rheumolotogist to rule of Autoimmune Dx?  Are you waiting to see a Neurologist?

can I suggest you check out our "Health Pages" it's the link on the top right side of this page.. there is alot of information there that will give you some answers as to how to prepare for appt etc.

ask for copies of all your tests results..blood, MRI, you can get the CD as well as the radiologist report.  any tests get copies..
Also, start a timeline..of all your symptoms, when they start how long they last, etc.

let us know how things go and stay in touch
take care
