MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS COMMUNITY

MS or ??

Ok, I have the electrical shock sensations going downwards through my body, but more often than not they travel upwards to my head.
Amongst that I have twitches, tremors, numbness, progressive muscle weakness, and a loss of balance.

Despite the above - my main concern is: increased electrical activity (like firing neurons) in my brain and upper neck. This in the recent month has now become accompanied with a fizzing/sizzly sensation that goes up from the base of my neck.
More noticable when I slightly lean forward.

I am still patiently waiting for a neurology referral, but this seems to be getting progressively worse.

Hi DJM,
Welcome to the MS forum here at MedHelp.  This is a great place to hang out whileyou are waiting for your next round of appts.  We have a large number of UK residents here who will empathize with your waiting for the neuro consult referral.

The electrical shock, the fizzies, and all the other symptoms you briefly describe all sound neurological to me, but I'm no doctor.

Has possible MS been mentioned to you by your doctors or have you come to this idea on your own?

There is a wealth of information here on our health pages (yellow icon, upper right side of this page)  - these are all written by members of our community in easy to understand language.  I hope while you wait for your next appts you will take some time to learn more about this MiSerable disease and especially the diagnostic process.

Getting an MS diagnosis, especially in the UK under the NHS, can be a lengthy process and not for the weak spirited.  I hope you will stick around here and allow us to help you on this journey.

My best,
Lulu

Thank you Lulu for making me feel welcome.

I have a quick question, when my gp has referred me to a neurologist am I supposed to receive a letter of acknowledgement from neurology sometime soon. Because it has been a good 2 months.

These electric shock symptoms are getting worse and it is driving me Skatty!!!

I would follow up with your GP, and find out which neurologist you were referred to.  When my PCP sent me to a neuro, they followed up pretty quickly - within a couple of weeks.  It's possible that your GP hasn't sent the paperwork on yet.
