MS or birth defect or multiple tumors

hi,
i started getting headaches on just right side of the head. i was prescribed imitrex and daily proprapanol. the beta blocker was able to control the headaches. but an MRi was done as safety precaution. They found 2 lesions. One is on the right side. the thing is till now i dont have any other symptoms. The doctor wanted me to wait for a month and then one MRI wouyld be done. I am about to be married in december. I am highly confused and depressed. Till now nobody in my immediate family knows about my MRI result also. The doctors are saying that if i dont show any symptoms and next MRI is consistent. Then those lesions must be congenital and i dont have MS. Is there any chance they can be multiple tumors

I am sure that your doctor and radiologist would have been able to tell right away, if you had tumors instead of lesions.  So please don't worry.  Believe me if they were tumors your doctor would have told you right then and there.

You CAN have lesions on the brain with no symptoms.  Back when I used to suffer from migraines, MRI's were not available.  I highly suspect I would have shown lesions back then, if the technology had been at hand.

Keep in mind that the left side of our bodies is controlled by the right side of our brain and vice versa.  In the spinal cord, (which you may want to get a spinal MRI of the entire spine with and without contrast dye) I have a lesion on the right side of my cord and it affects my right leg and right side.  I have more symptoms from my MS on the right side.

Unless numberous other testing has been done to rule out other causes of lesions, your doctor cannot be sure this isn't the beginning of MS, even though you presenting do not suffer from any symptoms.  Many many people with MS will tell you that they believe their MS started when they began to experience migraines.  They are many on this Forum that still have migraines after their diagnosis of MS.

Mine where controlled with beta blockers and disappeared as quickly as they started, over a period of one year.  I still take beta-blockers to this day for blood pressure.

I totally understand your confusion and your depression. Please do not let these newly discovered lesions change your marriage plans.  I hope that you have discussed this with your finacee.  I am sure he is there to support you, no matter what these lesions are from.  They CAN be from actual migraines.  They are ischemic in nature.

Meanwhile, I hope you realize that all of us here are behind you 100% to support you, through all of this.  There are so many soft shoulders on this site that think of us a fluffy couch, your anxiously waiting to sit on and feel great comfort.

May I please send you some big bear hugs and many prayers?  We all care...you are not alone in any of this.  Please trust me on this...
