MS patient with Jaw Pain

MS patient with Jaw Pain

I was diagnosed with RRMS about 2 years ago. so far ive had many strange symptons like numbness, total loss of sensation in my left leg temporarily (a few times now) the feeling of my hair being pulled, cronic (chronic) fatigue, dizziness, some cases of tunnel vision, sensitivity to heat, extreme muscle pain in my legs and back (mostly at night).. so now this is making me wonder if this is just another MS issue.  the left side of my jaw hurts like crazy and feels tight.it hurts to close my mouth all the way and hurts to chew. i already made an appointment with my dentist just incase. but by the list i put up top, nothing shocks me anymore.  any thought?

There is a type of facial pain related to the 5th cranial nerve that effects the jaw.  You might want to Google: Trigeminal Neuralgia.  In is not unusual in MS patients.  I have it.

You might also want to take a look at the Facial Pain Assoc Web Site http://www.endthepain.org/

Here is the ONLine test to help you figure out what kind of facial pain you might have:

Perhaps the pain is muscular, rather than neuropathic.  I have spasticity in my jaw on the right side, which causes muscle tension and soreness.  I went through three months when it hurt to chew on that side, and it seemed oddly fatigued.  I also have spasms in the muscle leading down from the jaw into my neck.

Alaprise, are you on any sort of muscle relaxer?  I take Baclofen 60 mg per day, which keeps much of that in check.
