Hello - I'm 52, but my symptoms started when I was 24 .
At that time I would get a "rug burn" sensation on a small area on my lower leg that would spread/move that by the end of the day would be up around my inner thigh. Pushing on it caused no pain, but rubbing on it would feel like a burn.
I would get these about every 3 months or so.
Here over the past few years, I now get these sensations that will start on my inner thigh and then move toward my peri-area, or on my right side and work toward my spine - those are the worst because when they come along, it also feels as if it will go into my ribs!
These typically will last a few days, but here lately have been lasting up to weeks. I am now experiencing moderate malaise - week and heavy feeling.
Also - these mostly happen on my right side. I have had 2 occasions when it was bilateral lower legs and one time on my left underarm.
All MRI's are negative, LP was negative, labs all negative, only positive decline was nerve conduction study.
I was placed on Neurontin... which has helped slow down the intensity, but my neurologist has discharged me because he has no clue.
He feels it may be MS, but  is hesitant to diagnose me with it.
I need help, this is really starting to scare me.
Also, tonight my granddaughter was tickling my back with a feather and I noticed that my whole right side was super sensitive  my muscles would bunch up in my lower cleft of my back and create an indent when she would run the feather down my right side or from my left side over my spine (electrical sensations) to my right side.....
What the heck!!
Any ideas?

Hi TL - Welcome to our group.

The sensation you describe doesn't sound MSish to me. MS attacks individual locations in the central nervous system, rather than the CNS as a whole. Because these attacks are at specific locations the symptoms they cause tend not to move around.

For example I have neuropathic pain in my left foot. It doesn't move up my leg, nor does it sometimes effect my right foot. If your neuro is throwing his hands up, I think you should dismiss him :-) As ALex suggested, see if you can find an MS specialist if you want to rule it in or out.

If your Neurologist was not a MS Specialist and he is leaning towards MS you might try a MS Specialist.
