Me, Too! Me, Too!

Wouldn't you know it.  Within a week of the discussion on anxiety and somatic symptoms I have suddenly developed a new symptom that I just hear of.  Last week Mrs. Aristotle told us about Erythromelalgia.  This is a reddening of the feet, hands, or face, sometimes on exposure to heat.  The areas often have a painful burning or tingling.  It can occur in association with MS, or some other diseases. etc.  I had never heard of it before but remembered that Tot-teacher complained of the same thing.

Well, my face is numb to pin pr ick on both sides, but the Right is worse than the Left.  On Sunday, the right side of my face began burning and my brow and cheekbone felt bruised.  The skin felt like it was mildly burned and really hurt when I touched it lightly.  Monday I felt that side was hot; the kind of hot that I get with my hot flashes.  Now, I am Irish and have very high facial coloring.  When I get red in the face I get REALLY red.

I looked in the mirror and the right side of my face was beet red and hot while the left side was normal/white and cool.  That is still true, but the skin no longer burns.  Half of my face is bright red.  People are noticing and commenting on it.

So, immediately upon hearing about a new symptom I develop it.   So, is the right  side of my face anxious or something, lol???  Just how "specific" can an anxiety symptom be?

Can I add Erythromelalgia to my list of symptoms?

Weird.

Well, just what you need, huh?  Another symptom!!

Maybe Mrs. Aritotle's post served a greater purpose than we thought.  Now you don't have to do any research to find out what to call this new symptom, Mrs. A has already done it!!!!

Hope this goes away soon, why don't you get sis to take a picture, that way you will have evidence to show your super neuro the next time you see him.

Happy Turkey Day!!!

Wobbly, my face gets red all the time, when I have a hot flash, when I'm tired - several times a day.  But, my whole face and scalp get red and hot.  Now, just the right side of my face is bright red and the rest of my scalp and the other side is normal colored and cool. And it isn't just my cheek.  It's pretty much the whole right side.  No, this has never happened before.

My question was just for fun.  There is no way that this splitting of color right down the middle could be a somaticized symptom.  It's not subtle.  And we're going on the 4th day.

I was just playing with you'all.  It's just a weird coincidence.  But thanks for caring. ;))
