Migraines; constant sore scalp

I have had frequent migraine headaches all my life; these usually begin with some sort of aura like tunnel vision or are triggered by certain foods/drinks. During the past few weeks I have had a very sore area on my scalp almost constantly. It is a relatively small area, maybe one to two inches in diameter. I used to have really long hair and when I would wear it in a bun or ponytail all day, my head would get extremely sore. The soreness I am experiencing now is very similar, but my hair is very short...no ponytails anymore. Every morning I wake up with a severe headache as well. Not a migraine, but it's pretty bad. If I put pressure on the sore area I can get the headache to ease up. This is happening every day and I'm not sure why this sore spot is there constantly. The painful area on my scalp is always in the same place each day...on the top of my head toward the back, right about where the part of my hair ends. Another weird concern I have is that I am losing a lot of my hair when I brush it or wash it. Not sure if this could be related, but maybe. Does anyone know what could case these symptoms?

I hesitate to tell you my experience but am going to throw it out there because it never hurts to get it checked. The exact same happened to me, I finally ask the on call  NP and was told it was an enlarged blood vessel, was put on heavy steroids, didn't help, so when my regular NP came back I explained it all to her ( 3 weeks since i saw the other one, 5 weeks since it started ) and she sent me for an MRI...the next day I found out I had a Brain Tumor , and 5 days later I wa sin surgery. They actually wanted me in surgery the day aftr but I had promised my children something and in case I didn't make it, I wanted to fulfill my promise, now, back to the same thing.and once again I have another brain tumor. Please get it checked if still in doubt.

Migraine can be horrible, so I hope you're being treated by a neurologist specializing in headaches. There are many out there.

However, nothing you write about seems related to possible MS, so I don't have any suggestions there. But possibly your sore scalp is an offshoot of the headaches, which are caused by dilation of blood vessels close to the scalp.

Good luck,
