Silly you, no question is silly!  Thanks for the 'bump' before!  You know, I don't know anything about B-12.  I have been tested for it, but my Bs are fine.  Are you deficient?  I didn't check your post.  I'm at work, and should be working, actually!

I wonder what would make you deficient....I bet the shots would give you some pep.  My friend at work has been advised to take them by her 'holistic' doctor.  Also thyroid.  (I don't like that.  I don't think he's regulated enough.  Especially the thyroid.  I think Quix has touched on this.  Synthroid makes more sense because of consistency.)  B-12 I think is fine, though.  But, like I said, I don't know much. I just play a nurse at work!

If your doc has recommended it, try it!  If it helps, go for it.  I would stand on my head if it would help me.  Heaven knows me legs don't hold me, maybe it would work better the other way!

Has anyone else tried this?  Keep us posted!

Hi, hope you are still feeling well.  I posted about my blood test results, but I just wanted to ask you if you know anything about the B12 injections.  As I said in my post, I am sure it will help with the fatigue, but I was just curiously about how many of you here had done this or if you knew anything about it.

You have always been so good about answering my silly questions, I thought if you knew anything about this you could help me.

Thanks for any thoughts you might have on this subject.

Be well and happy

Penn ~ I posted on the other thread -- too funny!

Jenn~  Thanks for your enthusiasm, but PLEASE don't jump!  We don't want you falling!  If you can get a referral somehow I think it would be a great idea to see a psychiatrist, especially since your last visit to the neuro.  (2 lesions is not enough!? Am I getting that right?)  It may just do you some good to talk to someone.

A psychiatrist is certified by the same AMA board as a neurologist, so their training will help recognize neuro diseases, symptoms.  She or he has 'tricks' to determine whether symptoms are psychogenic/psychosomatic or organic.  My doc shared a couple of these tricks with me after our session was over.  I am not going to share them with anyone here, but I am sure he had many up his sleeve I knew nothing about.  I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the good judgment he has acquired over the years, and what a fine actress I am! I psyched him out!  (Wink!)

About the neuropsych testing-- I think we have to think about this.  This 'pushing for tests.'  I think these more arrogant doctors hate that.  They put up blocks when they think we're dictating.  Your doctor seems amenable to suggestions.  I think someone like Penn's doctor would throw her out the door if she pushed for a test.  I think you MAY want to mention it to the psychiatrist if you go.  That's who would be more insightful perhaps and pick up on the impairment you have.

How does your impairment affect you? I know that when I am upset or anxious, my impairment is much worse. I'm not saying it's in your head.  You have lesions!  (In your head)  My doctor has recommended 1000 mg. of fish oil daily for me.  Try that for a month.  See if it helps.  I don't think it will hurt.

Anyway, I have been invited to make a fort with my 11- and 6- year-olds.  Can't pass that up.  Must go.

Thanks for writing.  No jumping.

Feel well!

I feel like jumping up and down and cheering for you and for all of us right now.  It's kind like "there's one for the team!!".  I am so happy to hear that atleast one of us has gotten the attention and care they deserve.  It makes what we are doing on here all worth while.  Your advice on the psychiatrist is sound.  I am annoyed with my rheumatologist because he told me three months ago that he was going to refer me to a psychiatrist he know who deals with people who have fibromyalgia type symptoms.  He said she was very good at distinguishing if anxiety and depression are making you sick or if they are a result of you being sick.  I was very interested in seeing her.  Ofcourse, I never got the referral and have been having the hardest time getting him or his nurse to call me back about anything.  I think he has taken on way too many patients and can't seem to get his act together.  It is a shame, because he really is a nice and intelligent doctor.  Anyway, I guess I will have to explore other options for getting my referral (maybe through the neuro).  Do you think I should push for neuropsych testing?  My cognitive problems are not as severe as yours, but they are there.  Anyway, I hope you are basking in the glory of your great find in this doctor!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Excuse me.  There I go demonstrating my cognitive impairment again.  I didn't mean to say - Call the bluff of these great doctors.  I mean call the bluff of the dufus docs.  The great doctors are out there.  If you still don't follow, don't worry--it's not you.

I need someone to check these before I hit that button!

Thank you very much for checking on me!  That's very sweet.  I have been checking on all of you, as well.  So many!  I can't believe all the new names on our little forum home here.  Wonderful!

I am feeling better emotionally, and I have to thank you all for the supportive notes you sent the other day.  Your good wishes and prayers for an attentive doctor worked.  I had an appointment Wednesday with The World's Best Neurologist.  Someone already took Super Neuro Hero, didn't they?  Wanna, maybe?  You probably all have been wondering who the World's Best is; now we know.  OK, I'm not sure he's the Best...yet, but he certainly was the Most Attentive.

My husband and I couldn't believe the appointment.  The intern started taking my history and did an examination at 3:10, and took about a half hour.  The doctor came in after reading my TIMELINE (which was SO important! Thanks, Quix and Wanna!), and didn't finish until 6:15.

He was so thorough, so interested.  And when I got there, I was pretty wound up, I must admit.  I felt like it was my "chance" to convince him that I needed testing.  So, I'm sure I sounded fairly idiotic.  My husband was a great help.  But sounding fairly idiotic probably helped, too.  I have shared here in this forum that I have cognitive difficulties, and I was having a bad week.  That day, at 3:00, was a good time to demonstrate those difficulties.  As frustrating as it is for me, he was able to 'see me in action.'  And my frustration (tears) showed.  My husband was there to back me up, to say that I do have very bad short term memory, completely forget whole conversations.  The doctor has a clinical interest in neuropsychiatry, so he was empathetic, and I thought compassionate.  He has ordered neuropsych evaluation.

We talked and talked and talked.  He said that my MRIs do not suggest MS.  He does not think I have it.  Then the more we talked, he said the less he felt he understood about what could be wrong with me.  I am going to say something now that I hope everyone will take to heart.  He said it so emphatically:

He had read my timeline, so I know he knew the answer to this before he asked it.  But he asked me what I did when my last neurologist told me all my symptoms were all in my head.  I told him that I made an appointment with a psychiatrist to see what he thought.  And he said, "GOOD-FOR-YOU."  I don't know a lot of patients that would do that.  It meant something to him.  I, myself, knew I wasn't faking my symptoms.  (There is something called 'conversion disorder' in which your body produces symptoms without having organic disease, due to anxiety.  It's a psychiatric disorder.  I think a neurologist who may be lazy or flustered would like to cop out and use this conversion disorder diagnosis to 'pass the buck.'  Maybe Quix can back me up or correct me.)

Anyway -- I wanted everyone to know what an ally a psychiatrist can be in the diagnostic process.  I felt better after talking to my psychiatrist, and I had so much more 'clout' with my neuro once having the validation of my psych.  The psych has told me to come back and talk any time I feel the need and asked me to keep him posted on my health.  A true professional.  Very kind gentleman.  I think it's important for everyone to know that it sort of gave me a free pass through all those questions of validity in the neuro office.

Then the World's Most Attentive Doctor gave me an exam.  What a workout!  It made me realize that Quix was right.  My evil neuro was a dufus.  He said I have increased muscle tone in all 4 extremities.  And Babinski's reflex in both feet.  SO weak in my legs.  He looked like he felt so sorry for me.  He pricked me with a pin and scratched me with it in various spots with various results.  He observed me walking, trying to run (right!) walk on heels, toes (right, right). He just seemed so fascinated.  I got the feeling that after we left, he and the intern turned and looked at each other and gave a big high five or something.  But they were both really kind.

I know so many of you, particularly Jenn, are having a frustrating time with their docs.  I don't want to frustrate you further.  (Jenn, I don't think it's as bad as it may seem. Hang in there!)  These docs are out there.  Call their bluff by visiting a psychiatrist!  A psychiatrist is trained to determine psychogenic symptoms.  It really made a difference for me.

I will have neuropsych testing and a PET scan of my brain, as well as NCS/EMG.  Will let you know how it goes.  What did you ask, Doni?  ; )

Take care, and feel well!

That is fantastic news, Zilla.  You sound so upbeat and happy!  I hope I am as fortunate as you when I am finally able to get this process started.

Take care of yourself and be well.
