I visited a parishioner in a hospital & two more in a nursing home yesterday. Spent today doing household stuff, including setting up our home computer network and fixing the dripping kitchen sink faucet -- again. (Tim's antivirus software expired in 2006. Success with the faucet!)
A Central Ohio radio station presents its' annual "Pastors' Appreciation Breakfast" early tomorrow, an hour away, & they'd like us to get there in time to visit all the sponsors' exhibits, 6:30 to 7:30 AM. Main speaker this year is James MacDonald, host of the "Walk In The Word" radio program. This is always a great program, typically several hundred pastors attending, and bags of useful freebies to take home.
Prayer meeting tomorrow night. Meanwhile, writing a contract to sell the old parsonage (long, complicated process yet ahead), and hoping to get Sunday's sermon done before Saturday for a change. On Mothers' Day, I'll begin a sermon series on family issues that will run through Fathers' Day. Could prove interesting. Also preparing for some summer events.
Neuro follow-up next week. See my latest photo post on my profile (that was what started me back to work on the network, early this morning). Might be in limbo until I reach heaven! Symptoms seem to be settling back down, though, since a group prayer Sunday.
God bless all.
It's Tuesday, so I guess that means I'm a day late and a dollar short.
I waited until today to post, because I had my first appointment with a new neuro who specializes in demyelinating disease. My first impression was a positive one.
The medical history questionnaire was very brief, so I was glad that I brought a timeline with me. The first thing she did was to look at 2 MRIs of the brain taken 2 1/2 years apart. Then she read my timeline (which I made sure included all of my symptoms, whether I thought they were neuro or not) and went onto read any medical records/reports that I had provided.
My basic neuro exam was "not bad, but did show some problems". I could not feel the pin pricks on either had and one foot. Babinski reflex was off and there was clonus on the right foot. Walking on my heels was definitely off, with me off balance and feeling nauseous.
Her initial impression is that the lesions on my brain are not typical of MS lesions and that she wants to rule out other possibilities for labeling me with a diagnosis. I fully support that approach. Worst thing to do is to get an incorrect dx and treatment that does not address the true disease.
A series of blood tests was ordered. Best I can tell, she's looking to rule in or out lupus, Lyme, Babesia, syphillis (ha!, no way unless I got it from a toilet seat!), B-12 deficiency, possible viral infection and clotting/strokes. I do have a history of DVT and a family history that is at high risk for stroke.
I will also be having an LP (she requested 3 test of the spinal fluid) and MRIs of both the T and C spines. I have an appointment with my eye doctor in two weeks and she has asked that he do a visual field test. I will follow up with her in a month.
My sx started almost 8 years ago and she took me seriously. She studied the info I provided and did give me feedback, for example saying that my smoking and drinking can complicate things. Overall, I was satisfied with the first visit.
Let's hope things continue to go well in terms of building a good relationship with this doctor and if need be, getting referred to the competent specialists.
Overall, a good day. I hope to be able to relax a little bit more for the rest of the week. And, yes, hit the jackpot in the lottery, since I don't have LTD and doubt that I can get it at this point with my medical history!
Monday -trip to PCP for another UTI
Tuesday -PT
Wednesday -lunch with a girlfriend
Thursday -MRI of brain if appt still available
Friday - DH -birthday
Sunday - theater tickets to Mary Poppins with my middle daughter
I hope every one has a good week!

Monday, monday.... can't trust that day. I'm glad this one is almost over. Actually the day was pretty good for me, and hope the rest of the week stays the same. No doctor appts this week:-)
I'm meeting with the local head of AHA's Go Red Heart program about maybe working with them for next year's event. We'll see if I get the good vibes or not. I don't always have the required patience for work *by committee.*
What's everyone else up to?

I have an appointment on Thursday to check my progress since I had my undercarriage/bladder repair job (tack, sling, and they attached it to my lower spine). It it slow going, to say the least.
I had to cancel b-day plans, this past weekend because I just didn't feel good. I started to run low grade temps (99.6 degrees) over the weekend, and my left side is acting up so bad. The weakness in my left ankle/and leg is making my limp so severe right now. My heart keeps doing a fluttering thing (pounding in my chest, then skip a beat, then slow down, and repeat). This happens throughout the day. I'm not sure what this is about, but I hate it.
So, other than that, my schedule is recovering, recovering, pick on husband, recovering, go to doctors..
not much this week, except I should get my Power Chair.. ?? I've been waiting for awhile and they called last week to say I should get it this week.
I'm having alot of Vertigo and numbness in my left leg. I should call the clinic, but don't have the energy to go there, I would have to get a volunteer driver booked and by the time I get them, it will be next week and I'm probably going to be better by then??
just confused I guess.
take care

Well I got all of my chorse done for the day by 11:00. That must be some kind of record for me lately.
The call to the VA was relatively painless as I only took 2 calls. So no more do I have a 9 hour wait between appointments on the 13th. The one appoinment has been move to June. On the down side I now have 3 appointments on the 4th. I am sure I'll be draging my tail by the time I get home. I also found out that the mistery PCC appointment is for Primary Care. Yahoo! I sure hope this PC will be better than the last one. I already have a long list of things to cover with this one. Bladder, Bowel, breathing, Sjogren's, disability forms, just to name a few.
