As a P.S. on a previous post a few days ago, someone else asked about swallowing issues. So check back a few days to a post by v______ sorry I've forgotten the rest.
Maybe a few more ideas?!?!
There is some kind of swallowing testing they can do - so PT and be prescribed to help. I don't think it's uncommon to have trouble swallowing and it can definitely be helped. I don't know if chewing can trigger trigeminal neuralgia. I wouldn't be surprised. But until you know what is going on - DO be careful. Grind things up? Pay attention when you swallow. Even liquids.
And good luck!! =^-^=
Short answer? Yes. Swelling in your neck due to spasms? Maybe not so much. Ask your neuro or PCP for a referral to a good PT or OT for swallowing issues. In the mean time, when you swallow, tilt your head forward and to the left or right (which ever feels best and most efficient), and be super aware of your swallowing.
Best of luck, and Welcome!
