Multiple sclerosis

I m an MS patient and right now on dose of Medrol.I m taking this steroid for last 2 months. Due to the medicine I have gained weight and have pimples on my face. I never had extra hair on my face now I have after taking medicine for last 2 months. Right now I am on dose of Medrol 12 mg.I started with 48mg dose.

Please help what should I do to improve my face. Also after my delivery I had problem of DVT. What is the cause of DVT? Is it related to MS? I was admitted in the hospital for 15 days.

Hi and  welcom to the forum,

I have never heard of anyone being on Medrol for that long, what are your reasons for being on it for such a long period of time? Seems to me that being on it for that long could be very problematic but I could be wrong, I am sure others will chime in.

As for the DVT I don't believe that is related to MS that is more of a blood disorder if I am correct and MS is a CNS disease.

As for your face, I would first talk to my doctor about the length of time you have been on the steroids and see if there is a different course of treatment available and your face will start clearing up on its own.

Take care and once again welcome to the forum,
Paula

Hi Poojasi,

I'm so sorry you must be completely at your wits end with these secondary effects. Steroids make you hungry, hungry. I tried to ignore the hunger pangs when they came because I knew I couldn't be hungry since my gut would growl right after I ate.

Like Paula mentions above, I dont' think there is a direct connect w/MS and DVt or at least I've not read of one at this point.

Your regular MD can help you out with your face and you'd be surprised of how fast. An antibiotic may clear it up quicker than anything topical you try.  Please make that call. In the meantime while you wait please don't overwash your face. This will make it worse. Use something gentle once a day. I use cetaphil.

How long you been suffering with MS? Get back to us when you can,
