My MRI update and some

Hi all,

I never give up updates on me much, except to those who hit me up here and there. And, I wanted you all to know that my MRIs are not worse than in 07. At least the report read as if they weren't. In fact, the lesion in my spine is less bright now, slightly smaller - things must have simmered there and the lesions (assuming they are talking about the T2s) in my brain are unchanged.

There was no mention of the T1. I wonder why? Wouldn't they have run that sequence? This facility was not the one that identified the T1 in the past. I wonder why that is too - did they miss it?  My questions are to all of you, since this is the facility that completed my initial MRIs in 07 (the ones that combined w/clinical info I was dx'd on) and I was then imaged in a different facility between then and now - Should I send them my films? Or at least ask my doc to have them look at the imaging inbetween - the one that noted the hole?  I'm not super concerned, but I know that T1s are otherwise called black holes, and I'd kind of like to keep track of that in regards to atrophy. I just want to know what it's doing and if it's any smaller (if that's possible), or bigger.

Only other issues are the HNPs. Same ol' same ol there. Same HNP at C3/4 and spurring a new soft disc HNP at C7/8. No wonder my neck is always hurting.

So that's my update - wish they would have commented on my inability to articulate anything, anymore, lol Counting on you all to know exactly what I'm looking for - and give me your thoughts as you always do because you just "get it!" xoxoxo

Thanks!
-Shell

congrats on the good news!  i work at an imaging center and its great when pt bring in images of past mri. i'd call them and just say you forgot to bring in the cd/films at the time of the vistit and see if the rad would be willing to do a comparison and issue an addendum to your mri report. its always worth a try.

once again congrats on your good news :)

ZacksM-D! - I'll definitely update better - I'm not so good at giving up info on myself, I'd rather keep up the invisible fight, but then there are those times that bites me directly in the arsh because too much is expected, I have to admit I can't do it, I feel like a loser, yadayad (I know dumb)  :(  Point out that middle road, durrnit!  The one w/the cuties in it, lol that made me smile - thanks!

Addi - For someone who thinks she didn't get it....you did! No more damage in my brain! psssst - definitely have to turn the whole body, soo subtle, hahah

Suma - You are very welcome! I'm an optimist most times - though I lose it from time to time. But then look at the reminders of good - to keep the doom and gloom away.

Bob - Thanks! I definitely don't want volume loss. What's your thoughts on sending the interim films directly to the facility? Or, would they disregard w/out doctors orders?

Sharon - I'm going to take your good advice and ask my doctor to call them or I'll do it myself.

Amo - I wish my doc were more thorough. He should be asking these very things himself. Hit yours up for me would ya? For an on the arm review? hahah I wish.

Pam and Udkas- Cheers to you too!. Wishing you the same w/your surg. and testing, Pam, and Udkas - nice to see you. I'm soo wish I would of brought the 08's to this facility - what a dope I am.

Kelly - Disappearing T1s, I'm thinking that's the reabsorbtion Quix has discussed with us in the past. I'll look it up I only have 1, but someone mentioned atrophy, and that's my biggest concern. You still showing 3?

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!  I'm so sorry to get back to you all to late. I appreciate all of your good advice and wisdom! And, I'll use it all!

(((hugs)))

Hi Shell,

My new neuro always looks at the MRI scans himself, and he always finds more than what the radiologist has pointed out.
I have 3 T1 black holes. My neuro has said to me before that up to 30% of them can be acute and disappear over time.

I'm glad that there has been no changes, but hope that they have read your MRI correctly.

Hello there,
I am no expert on MRI or on imaging techniques but from what I read and understand it sounds fantastic, I think that it is wonderful that you have gone so long with no changes.

As for the comparison bits I can't help you sorry.  I would try and gather them all up for your neurologist to see, when I have my MRI done, I always make sure that they have all of my old films/CDs to compare with but generally they usually only look at the last one I had done for comparisons.

Good News,
Take care,
Cheers, Udkas.

Dear SHell,

Good hearing things are sastis quoe (sp LOL)
I know when we    have new mri done we want best eyes readings them. SOmetimes thhat means our neuro, others th e radiologist. Depending on your mri locale and their level of expertise.
I personally   always have my neuro look at them and hear what he says over my local radiologists .
Our radiologist(s)  here   i know has missedd thiings (many things)on my mris.

I don't know, when axons die (the black hole on T1) in time do the black hole 'dissappear'  and the tissue then show as atrophy?  Or do they always keep showing as a hole?
Bob?

I'm not sure the other mrri locale would look at another mri. I would ask that question of your neuro   or even call the mri office. I know on some my reports(especially at beginning) they mention ' no prior scans to compair'. SO maybe they would? But certainlly make sure youur neuro sees all  your mri!

Have a good weekend, and we always! love your update,!

Hey your report looks like fantastic news!!!!

If it were me I think just for the sake of clinical completness and personal reasurance I would want all imaging compared.

Of note on any of my MRI's over the past two years there has been no mention of T1 and I happily assume that is becuase there is nothing to see on the T1 sequance automatically presuming it was done.

I'm in for an MRI next week and I think I will have to ask aboout this one, you've peaked my curiosity.

Finally if it were me I think I would obtain the previous images and ask for them to be compared. I get the feeling that the more the radiologist has to work with the happier they are with their reporting. The more info the better for them.

Its been one year since my last MRI and I suspect there will be some big changes. So this weekend is going to be all about me. Food, wine, rest, good book here I come!!!!

Sharon.

Well, what you posted sounds promising.  Lesions show up on T2, PD,  and Flair Sequences without GAD and on T1 sequences with GAD.  T1 also shows axonal loss as black holes.  Too many "black holes" and you loose brain volume.

If they are not calling it out, then it must not be a glaring issue.

I am waiting for Quix, Lulu or Bob to tell us you have a good report card but it looks great to me!!!!  Sounds like no progression which is what we all hope for in our reports.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all you do on these boards.  I happen to know you also do behind the scene work and it is appreciated by those of us that just don't get things.  You have always shown kindness to me and respect to all of us.

Thank you.

You better update about urself for all of us once in a while :)
I always have my neuro look at my films and compare the old one.  Radiologists are great and all, but I still like the neuro to take a gander at MRIs.

I have not been able to wrap my brain around which images show what so I am no help there sorry.

No snapping your head around to check out cute boys anymore...lol! Just kidding.  U be careful with that neck.
