Don't know if this is like your numbness, there is a nerve in your cheek, cannot remember the name, but pressure on that nerve can cause facial numbness on one side.
Trigeminal nerve is it. Neuralgia is when you experience pain along the trigeminal nerve. The most disconcerting of these was the pain I got behind my molars on the left side - a sharp stabbing pain that felt like I'd been shocked with an electric jolt.
Jens: That's it. I went to the dentist a few years ago, thinking I had an abscessed tooth. It wasn't the tooth (thank goodness) but it wasn't until recently I found out what it really was.
That has been causing my facial numbness...I was just told.
I think the difference was these two separate feelings had merged into one. I felt like everything from the mouth to the top of my head was kind of squeezy. I now feel normal again, meaning just minor numbness on the left side. See, normal is a relative term!
As for the TN topic: I hesitate to mention it because I do NOT get the electrical jolts, sharp pains, nothing pain-related. Just numb-related.
I do have sensitive teeth, but nothing that ever prompted a trip to the dentist, just for cleanings.
(Electrical jolts are on other parts of me though.)
Well, we did have a windy spell here a few days ago. I went outside and the wind on my face hurt.....it was only for a few seconds as I ducked back into the house, but it got my attention.

Do you mean the trigeminal nerve?

Ct: What is different? Are you doing okay?

Thanks, I do feel better!
