My foot wont wake up

My foot wont wake up

Hey all,

Wednesday I was at the computer and I started feeling very strange.  My heart was racing, I was sweating buckets, my hands where shaking, and the back of my legs was in knots, oh, yea, I could'nt get a good deep breath.

This lasted for about 30 min.  I almost called my son because I was getting scared but that's about the time it started settling down.  I have'nt done that since but my right leg still is in knots and very painful (not visible knots) and my foot drags.  When I take steps my foot drags behind or turns the wrong way.  It has a mind of it's own.  I have to watch it and tell it what to do and then I can pick it up a little but there still isn't a lot of control even when I'm watching it.

I pretty much decided it was because my potassium was still at 2.9 that day.  My potassium was at 3.2 on Thursday and I had it taken today (Saturday) but I will have to wait for Monday to find out if it was normal yet.  It is much better.

My question is, do you think my little episode was due to my potassium being so low?  What about my leg and foot?  This is not the first time my foot has done this but it is the first time the other stuff happened.

Thank you
Carol

Gee, I wish you'd have gone to the ER. Can't potassium levels effect your heart, not to scare you, but...? Those are scary symptoms. I am VERY concerned reading this. Please take care of yourself. Better to go to ER for nothing than not go and regret it.

God bless

You are right but my doctor was aware and has me on potassium pills.  I'm sure I should have went to the ER when that happened.  He will probably chew me out for that.  If it would have lasted any longer I would have went.

I'm going in every other day to get it checked and each time it has went up.  The problem is they don't know what keeps causing it to drop so low.

Any ideas?

I wish I knew. I have always had difficulty keeping potassium and magnesium levels up - coincidentally they've been great since my symptoms started - go figure! I don't know what would cause them to drop so far down so frequently.

I concur with Lisa - please go to the ER next time this happens!   You have a history of strokes and the Potassium will affect your heart.  Any chest pain during the shortness of breath?  Are you on a blood thinner now also?  If yes how are those levels?

Take care of you please and I will be praying for you!
