"Mystery Diagnosis"

Hi all!  I don't know how many of you watch the program called "Mystery Diagnosis" but it has been an eye opener for me.  I had felt that even though I have you all to talk to about having all these symptoms and having doctors just dismiss me as "needing another anxiety or antidepressant med" that we were as a group unusual.  This is totally not so.  There are thousands of people out there with similar stories to ours in their plight for a dx but maybe different symptoms.  I am noticing that alot of them have had to go to teaching hospitals to find a doctor that will really listen to their story and try to put the puzzle pieces together.  I wish there was a way to flag these doctors online or rate them like ebay uses.

Can you imagine how ego deflating it would be for some of these weanie neuros to get a negative rating that everyone can see and use to make a decision on whether to use them or not.  I do not know the legal ramifications of this but I think it would be very helpful to those of us here looking for a compassionate doctor that will actually take us seriously and not just stop testing because they are stumped.  Maybe I will use this as my next business venture! ?   What do you think?

Thanks for listening and watch the show - it has been very enlightening and I am waiting for our symptoms to come up!!

I posted on-line to the forum here on the thryoid dr. to patient forum.  The dr. there gave a rational response (he is obviously NOT weenie roast material) - which he does to all the questions asked to him, though he said my case was too complex to be addressed on line and recommended that i follow-up with my dr. closely (poor Dr mike - I am giving him a break at the moment - cause I can't handle not getting answers) and possibly see a university-based medical team.

Good advice, except that's not available in Philippines and I can't afford to go somewhere else to get medical care.

I was going to tell you that in Canada we have a site for that. Apparently the doctors are getting up in arms about it and are trying to get it stopped. I guess they don't want anyone knowing how incapable they are. I think its a great idea. I've looked on our site and have not yet found a neuro on there that is rated good so I'll keep looking.lol  I have not yet seen that show but will check it out.

Have a great day all.

Hi again,
I found a site we all should post on:

http://ratemds.com/social/

There are apparently lots of sites that I did not know about.  Oh well for that business idea!  But I have already posted my review of my first doctor and I plan on printing it and mailing him a copy!!

Thanks Fran for posting so quickly!!

Take care all and check this site out - we will get the last word after all!

What a great idea... love the rating idea of the weanie docs... some of them would think twice before they treat their patients that way... maybe you have a super new business up your sleeve.. maybe you can hire all of us as your consultants... we all seem to get along so well... what a great time that would be... love it..

i also have watched that show.. it is great... you are right there are so many people who are frustrated by not know what is causing them to be ill... we are definitely not alone.

take care
God bless,
Frann
