Need Advice, MRI Today

I have an MRI today. I am seeking advice on how to go about the test and results. I want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to make this process progress and move to a conclusion.

A little about me: On/off symptoms ignored for the past few years. One month ago had severe numbness/pain down left arm that lasted about a day. After that was hit with blurry vision, extreme fatigue, concentration troubles, trouble typing, trouble speaking, slurring sometimes, couldn't lift things, heavy arms while driving, shocks in my head, tingling in legs and arms, burning feet, two weeks later stabbing pain in shoulder blade, week later tight sensation in ribs-pain moved to my back, two days ago pain in arm woke me up in middle of night along with tingling right foot. I have a journal of symptoms that go on and on. I can feel okay for half a day or a day, then bamn I feel like I've been hit by a truck or I will get a shock down my leg, extreme fatigue, lightheaded from grocery shopping. It seems like there is always something no matter how much I sleep, rest and relax.

Blood tests - normal, EMG/NVT - normal, sleep test - normal

Today I have an MRI. Is there anything I can do at this point? My neuro told me to call him when I get the results. Why wouldn't my neuro look at the MRI? Should I request that in case he sees something that the Radiologist doesn't?

The neuro hasn't told me anything of what is going on. It must be something. I'm in complete despair and worn out. He wouldn't give me any meds to help and just said to exercise to help with energy. Obviously I don't want to be dx with MS, but I also don't want something on the MRI to be overlooked, in case there are lesions.

Another thought about neuro: I asked him if I should wait to start TTC. My husband and I were planning to start this fall. My GP said "Wait". My neuro said "Go ahead if you are ready. Women with MS can have children and it won't be a problem."

I'm so lost right now and just would like some answers.

Any thoughts? Thanks :) This forum and website is wonderful.

I am so sorry I didn't see your post earlier - it was a crazy day at work again.  I hope you did ok with the MRI and when you left you also had acopy of the images for your records.

Your neuro should not have said to call him with the results- he has that backwards.  It is his job to call you!

As for trying to conceive, pregnancy is usually good for women with MS but the rebound after birth can be horrific.

So let us know how it went for you today and what questions we might be able to answer.

be well, Lulu

Wow.  It is always so interesting to hear the difference in what doctors have to say!!

I wonder if some of ther differences are related to the part of the country a doctor is in.  What part of the country are you in?

Thanks for the posts :)

I live in the mid-west. I called the neuro office the day of the MRI. The receptionist said that I am to call them 3 days after the MRI to get the results. She said they only call patients, when it is an emergency.

My doctor should have the results today. Doesn't mean he will look at them. So I will just follow up on Monday.

The MRI went fine. They did the contrast too. I was glad to have that because from what I've read, that should be done for MS. So the ladies knew what to do - that comforted me.

I will keep you posted.
Thanks again :)
