Need a little encouragement please!!!

Friday Oct 2 will be my first appt with Neuro #2. I have read on rateyourmd.com that this neuro is a moron when it comes to MS and it's debilitating symptoms. My hopes to getting answers now have been crushed. Especially since my last two episode with my muscles in my legs, ribs and arms contracting for 20 min.

I am worried.... Just wondering if anyone has some thoughts or shed a little light over here.

Today I am getting a shiver on the left side of my scalp..stange feeling. Also since this morning, I have a pain on the top of my head like someone is pulling a piece of my brain out kind of like getting a tooth yanked. It's a very uncomfortable feeling. Has anyone else ever felt this???

Shelley

Shelley,

Don't let it get you down. Judge this neuro on your own experience. I wish you the best anyways and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Take care and let us know how it goes.

Please remember that most people will readily complain but few take the time to praise a doctor on these websites.  Finding a fair representation of the neuros can be difficult.

Keep an open mind and see what Friday holds.  Is this neuro an MS specialist?

I also have the head pains, but I'm not sure I would mention them pre-dx to a neuro for fear of having migraines thrown into the mix. We have had a rash of migraine dx's lately.

my best,
Lulu

hi there.. I know exactly how you feel... alot of the Neuro on rateyourmd. will get those answers, so dont take too much on that... keep a record of any new symtptoms, dates when things started.  try to keep it small...I know it can be difficult..what I found is the Neuro wants to know what they can help you with... give them a couple of BIG issues... then take it from there.  and hopefully the Exam will be thorough..and at least 1/2 hr or more.

Let the Neuro know if you are having a good day or bad day when doing the exam etc.  OK....

have you had a MRI yet...head or C spine??

blood tests?

good luck and hope all goes better then your feeling...OK hang in there and let us know how it goes.  Just remember he works for you...read up on the "Health pages" link on the top right side...it will give more info on Neuro visits.

take care

Hi Shelley,

I have had similar sensations when I had occipital neuralgia last year. It started with some ice picks sensations then moved onto the shiver sensations which eventually resulted in a burning pain along my scalp from the back of my head to the top with radiating pain to my ear. I was given a short burst of Decadron and started on Trileptal.

I hope you can get some relief from this before Friday. Can your PCP prescribe something for you until then?

Sending well wishes,
Ren
