Need help seeing if I have similar symptoms for MS

Hi, my doctor has sent me to see  neurologist, because of some issues I am having. We thought it was restless leg syndrome but my arms will fall asleep randomly and my fingers fall asleep and its not a tingle tickle feel it is very very painful. I'm having very bad headaches and my joints are also so painful. I started loosing weight because I assumed my weight was the reason for my joints but still no result in my pain. Sometimes I wonder after loosing weight that the pain has gotten worse. It is kinda like a dull burning pain, and I just am anxious about going to neurologist because my doctor told me there is a possibility it could be MS, just wanted to get another opinion and just see. Thanks much.

Hi and welcome,

Try to keep in mind, that there are many conditions that cause similar sx's to those associated with MS.......it's always going to be in your best interest to remain open minded!

When the sx's are bilaterally in both upper and lower limbs, MS would not typically be at the top list of possible causes, because there are many other conditions that 'more commonly' cause that sx pattern eg structural spinal issues - degenerative disc disease, Arthritis etc. Joint issues are generally not a sx of MS but those who have an abnormal gate, weight issues etc can over time develop this type of problem too, though technically it's not directly caused by the brain and or spinal cord lesions (MS).

I personally don't think MS is your most likely explanation, from my understanding what you've described doesn't sound very suggestive of MS, the neurologist will get you closer to knowing what's going on, so try to take one step at a time.....

Cheers........JJ
