Neuro Appt

Just wanted to update on how my appointment with neuro/ms specialist went last Monday.

It didn't go so well because I had some running around to do that morning, was not able to get my list together - I had a list, but it needed to be broken down and I intended to do that before the appointment, but then a bit of a family crisis came up so I didn't get a good list done.

Also, in my rush to get out the door with all the chaos going on, I left my MRI disc and all of my medical records home. I hoped the doctor would have them but he didn't and I don't understand why. Thank God I was able to pull up my records on my phone via a mobile app so he read the MRI report and saw all the tests that have been done on my phone.

The doctor was very very nice and spent a lot of time with me. He did a LOT of tests of my strength, my reflexes, whether I could feel a pin on different parts of my body, and the usual what I call "sobriety" test. I did fine on all the tests except the memory, and that's the same one I failed at my last neuro appointment. My memory is so bad. :(

I didn't mention MS until the very end and I only mentioned it because I had forgotten to tell him that I had the visual evoked response test and it also came back normal, so I told him that the reason my doctor did all those tests is because she thought I had MS. He said, "Well, there are white matter changes in MS, but you passed all of the tests (except for the memory) so I don't think that's what it is." He did a blood test to check my B-12 levels (I'm pretty sure that's the ONLY thing they haven't tested) and told me to come back in 3 months because of my cognitive issues.

So, no progress made in figuring out what is wrong with me, but I'm okay with that for now. The vertigo has gotten much better. I'm still having the tingling in my legs, but not so much in my arms. Pain is still there, off and on, in my eyes and then the sharp shooting pains in all different parts of my body and also the joint and muscle pain which is very consistent. It sounds bad, but it's really more of an annoyance than anything else. I will just continue to keep track of things and wait for my appointment in July!

Thank you for all of your support throughout this ordeal.

B-12 would be a great answer, wouldn't it?  I'm glad this doctor wants to see you again in 3 months and not stretch it longer.  Thanks for the update, Laura

I second that.  Let's hope it's B-12.

Fingers crossed that your B12 levels are the problem.  I think that is an easy fix.  I'm surprised they haven't checked it already.

Hopefully you can get some answers soon that solve your problems.
