Saw the neuro.today........he said my lesions were the same as MS lesions but my symptoms were not. He said MS doesnt' cause migraines - I thought any of you with MS AND migraines might be awfully pleased to know that. HA!
He didn't do any physical tests , just took my blood pressurePressure ulcer and looked at the MRI scans, wrote out a list of drugs and said 'come back if your symptoms change". Ho hum........
So I still have no clue why I am dizzy, nor what is supposedly is about migraines that can cause lesions the same as MS lesions.
Well, since he said you don't have MS but he still gave you a bunch of meds, what for? What did he say you DO have? Is migraines the only diagnosis? Have you been having them for a long time? Or are you just finding out that you do have migraines?
Thee are many here with complex migraine syndromes who can help you much better than I can. I do know that migraines can take many forms and be quite weird. People can have vastly different experiences and still the diagnosis is migraine headaches.
On MRI, migraines can indeed cause lesions. They tend to be described as punctate, meaning very small, and that's not typical for MS.
However, and this is a BIG however, many migraine sufferers also have MS. Or put more properly, many MSrs have migraines. This all makes diagnosis all the more complicated. If you are having symptoms that seem to have nothing to do with headaches, especially in other parts of your body, and your neuro has not given you a full MS workup, it's time to ditch him for a more competent doctor. You need all the tests and rule-outs, and a comprehensive neurological exam, if all these have not been administered.
Hmmmm...... I'm as confused as you on this one. What DO you have????? How is he explaining the 15mm periventricular lesion?????
What meds did he give you and what symptoms is he treating you for? Sending you off with a bunch of prescriptions and no follow-up, at least for the meds and how they are affecting you, is rubbish!!!!!!
Like ess said, many MSers have migraines and migraines can cause punctate brain lesions.
Also, my neuro gives me a physical exam EVERY time I see him.

I also think it's time to dump this guy and get a new neuro. With the dizziness, you need other testing that can help pinpoint the cause (BESP and VNG). Those are some of the first test my neuro ordered as the dizziness/headaches were my major complaints.
Ugghhhh.... I'm sorry you're still left hanging in limbo.... ((HUGS))
Take care, Pat :)
just reading about migraine lesions,
my MRI came bake with 20 foci of T2 and FLAIR hyperintensity in supratentorial white matter and predominatly in centrum semiovale...report says nothing about punctate lesions yet doc says it's migraines...it's a long story as I do have migraines but report also states possible demyelinating process but distribution is atypical for MS....can you comment?
jijen..
PS I am confused if foci and puncate is same symptoms are not coinciding with my migraines anymore and I have development more
You may have more luck if you start a new post.
Sorry I wasn't any help but hang in there, someone will help.
