Neurology question - poss MS??

I am 31 and since the birth of my 2yr old twins i have experienced several symptoms.  I have pushed every GP and eventually seen a neurologist and had to press him to refer me for an MRI.  MRI showed excessive white matter and lesions and i was sent for LP & evoked potentials which again i had to push for neuro to send letter to GP for results, GP doesnt understand them! Letter stated Obligoclonal bands detected in CSF, but not in serum, indicative of local synthesis of immuniglobulin within CNS.  And evoked potentials  stated reasonable well defined P100 responses bilaterally.  The latency of this is markedly delayed; slowing conduction in both visual pathways.
Can anyone please put this into layman terms for me as so far i have been in limbo for almost a year.
Kind regards
Alison

Evoked potentials measure the electrical conductivity of your nerves. Essentially what this result means is that you're getting a delayed signal, which indicates nerve damage.

Hi Alison - Welcome to the group.

Weekends can be a little slow here, but you shouls get some respnse this week.

Your MRI say you have lesions, but you don't mention where they are or what the radiology report gives as possible reasons for them. It's generally in a section labeled Impressions. Lesions tend to be a justification for furhter MS inquiry.

That you have o-bands unique to your CSF is another indication that MS may be possible. Im not sure about the evoked potential results, as I've never had the tests.

You need to find a neurologist that specializes in MS. Most regular neuros don't understand MS and even fewer GPs do.

Hi Alison

Sorry no one has replied to your post before now.

From what you've written, I'd get in touch with your Neuro and making an appointment for his run down on your results.  MS is both a clinical diagnosis and based on the results of tests.  Your test results are definitely not normal and need to be followed up.

Best wishes

Poppy
